A quick walk at lunch time yielded a small surprise:

The one on the right in the top pic is a little gross, but I think they're all good.

Are Psilocybe subsecotioides, psilocybe weraroa and psilocybe subaerugniosa mixed together? That's how I have always thought of them.

went hunting again around the patch I found last time, mostly still on tanbark, around grasses with leaf litter.. Picked from 3 different patches, have taken photos, and am currently trying to make spore-prints.

check out the photos here;

The spot has at least a dozen different varieties of mushroom, I might post some photos later of the other types, some orange looking ones appear in one of the previous photos, but there where plenty of others.

Id's appreciated.

The misses goes "Theres a guy at work selling some shrooms - I will buy you some"

I said "DONT BUY THEM!"

Most of the fun is the searching process and I would feel like I cheated If i bought them off someone. Shrooms aren't meant to be sold anyway they are meant to be shared. There's nothing better then having a few mates round for a session with the shrooms you have picked yourself.

My 2Bob

I agree with you 100%. I would never buy mushrooms because it is a cop out to buy something that the earth gives you for free, you are cheating yourself and cheating nature and allowing the whole cheating process to continue by giving someone money for them, therefore strengthening their likelihood of selling them. I don't feel this way about things such as fruits and vegetables for example, I'll gladly buy them cos it's convenient and it gives honest and hard working farmers some dough to live by, but mushrooms are sacred and should be treated with a great more deal of respect. A lot of the times I get hauls, my friends, and even friends of friends will ask to buy mushrooms off me - I never accept, I'll just give away for free what I can spare. Or I will help them find their own. Mushrooms that you have picked yourself, and shared with others, always give back to you the respect you put into them tenfold.

Sorry, but your wall of text looks extremely hypocritical.
Apply the same logic of fruits and vegetables to magic mushrooms, then that's sane and fair.
You cant simply be prejudice towards magic mushrooms when fruits are equal in the equation.
I know what I'd choose if I had to have JUST one of either two items forever.

I take people picking that want to go for the right reasons.
I have handfuls of people who I would never consider taking for a hunt nor would I give them mushrooms for free.
I share distaste towards people who treat the hunt and the drug with no respect.

I give mine away for free more than often unless either:
A) My friend(s) wants to sell them or give them away to huge amounts of third parties.
B) I'm desperate for money.

If I need to let them go, I simply ask, then proceed to do so.

Question: I have tried several different methods of drying.

First, in front of a ducted heating vent for 2 hours, resting on cardboard with holes poked through. They shrivelled to about half the size, and were still somewhat soft when removed. Put them in a plastic bag, the next morning they were black, smelling foul. Probably could have eaten them, but threw them away.

My second find I tried the same method, but for much longer and with an upturned ice bucket to keep the air in. It wasn't overly hot, but steady air for 4-5 hours. These shrivelled to about 1/3rd of their original size.

Today I used a needle and threaded through the stems, hung them up over the vent (about 2 feet above) and left them there the whole day. These, like the last, shrivelled to 1/3rd of the size of when they were fresh.

I know a lot of the shroom is water to begin with, but I've never been able to find decent sized subs. The biggest one was no longer than my pointer finger. Now they are TINY and look nothing like the pictures of dried mushrooms I've seen. I hope they're still good, but my concern is really trying to get an accurate dose. I have about 35 dried subs weighing in at a grand total of 7 grams :/ I'd appreciate some guidance/critique of my methods here. I have read the tecs in this site, but some of them seem overly complicated, and I don't really have access to silica gel etc... also I'm trying to do this discreetly, ie. making use of whatever is in my room basically.

Figured I'd post this here as it's specifically about the subaeruginosa species, other psilocybes seem to be a bit bigger I think.

Seriously, the best way to dry subs is this.

Fan dry for 24 hours. Then put them in a DampRid chamber (any sealed plastic box with no holes), fill up the bottom half with DampRid, put a plastic mesh on top and place sparingly subs on top, cover and leave for 3-4 days. They will be crisp dry after 3 days.

Ideal if you have no money, I agree.
Admittedly this is what I did for the first 2-3 seasons.
If you have money that is burning a whole in your pocket, buy a food dehydrator.

hey guys, how much do we guesstimate i have here in this jar, i put a table spoon next to it to give you a size comparison?

Also how roughly how many spoon fulls will i have to pack into a tea bag(s) to hit a lv4 trip?

Im just trying to see how much i will need to stock pile up to last through summer :P

And ive also noticed that im not having much luck finding subs in big reserves or bush land and much better luck in local parks or around footy fields, strange. Anyone else see it this way?

As we know everyone is different, but I think 1 spoonful should probably be enough for a level 4.  I never weigh so I have NFI how much you have there.  Why don't you start consuming them, you'll work out soon enough how much you'll need to get through summer.

@Shroomster, you need to weigh them up.
This is purely my advice and I feel this is of crucial importance and others should do the same but I'm sure there are many who also disagree.

@t0mm0, no offence but in my eyes that is somewhat weird advice.
You need to weigh them up to judge what trip you want ergo a spoonful can be any weight.

I think I've tripped three times in my life without weighing them up.
My first three trips, lol.
Fun but highly unpredictable.

Came back from Tree of Life this week and have had some very nice finds last two days.
Went on two pretty half assed hunts and pulled 1.5 KG's fresh.

Love and light to all.

Not a TI but can safely say they're Psilocybe Subaeruginosa aka actives.
Be sure to wait for a Trusted Identifier before consumption.

Your patch looks scarily like my patch xD. You aren't around the northern suburbs are you? Not going to be any more specific than that.

lol, yeah...

family man are you

well, I am not likely to be collecting too many more Belzaryn, I am just keen to munch a few and see the sights as a way of getting back in touch with my shamanic past, if you dig me.

I am not willing or able to trip more often than a couple time a year on any substance whatever, and I am not into collecting 'quantity', its strictly a one off thing.

Anyway, I left plenty at the patch I visited, so you should be right regardless

Defs subs, I picked almost one hundred of them today in my spot that'd been going for 4 years now, near identical

It's all good man, if it's the place I go to there are always plenty there anyway. If that fence I see on one of those pictures is the one I'm thinking of then I didn't even realise they were growing up there xD.

I think there are definitely others who know about this spot, about a week and a half ago I left some pins one night, the next day I had a look while walking the dog and they were gone.

I sent you a PM with a few more clues to determine if it's the same spot, feel free to respond if you're comfortable with that.

My find is now completely dry and sitting in a container with desiccants.
I'm just wondering, if I left them in a paper bag for about 7 hours before drying will they still be ok?

After first drying session (about 3 hours), they were left in a glass jar overnight without silica gel

also, just to let Northern suburbs peeps know, there are food dehydrators on sale at Homeart Northland for 40 bucks, reduced from 100, pretty cheap construction, but the price is right and it comes with a 12 month warranty.

Just fyi, theyre just subs and definitely not p. subsecotoiods. And yes, subsecotoiodes are considered and presumed to be weraroa mixed with subs.

Yeah man they'll be fine.  If they weren't then you'd know because they would be looking rotten, but 7 hours in a paper bag shouldn't be an issue.
