I googled the screen name The_Mallacht because I wanted to know what it meant. I found out.

YES.

I'll share my method of stalking people with you, just for fun. I suggest doing it on yourself from time to time and deleting any links you find. By links, I mean like if you put your phone number online, that one tiny bit of information would link an internet detective to more information on you (your name, address, and the names of everyone that lives with you via whitepages.com's reverse phone number search, pictures of your house via google maps, if you get on zillow.com or realtor.com it'll reveal your house's value, amount of bedrooms, bathrooms, etc). When you delete that one phone number, all that other information disappears from view too.

Anyway, here's what I search for:

"username" intitle:"forum"
"username" intitle:"message board"

This reveals some of the following. The person's email address, birth date, general location, real name, and phone number. Perform a new search on each one of these new pieces of information individually. Put each item in quotation marks to eliminate false positives.

Once you've done that, you'll want to combine "general location" and "birth date". Frequently, people who are trying to hide something (or just want to keep their real life and e-life separate) will have more than one username. By not searching for their username, it reveals their other usernames. An exception to this is video game usernames. All forums have a sticky'd "What's your xbox live name?" topic. If you care about your online privacy, never post in those, haha.

Try:

"birthdate" + "location" intitle:"profile"

Individual searches from above are good too like "emailaddress". Just try any information that doesn't contain their username to find their other usernames.

I also use Google's and Tineye's reverse image search on any pictures in their profile or signature. Searching for a picture reveals all the other webpages the picture is located on.

Although they're annoying to locate by looking through a user's post history, big achievements are worth performing a reverse image searching on too, like if someone had a great vacation, they're likely to share pictures and talk about it on every web community they visit.

There are also pay background check websites you can use, but I never pay for them. Some of them have fraudulent payment complaints against them, and the way they work is by crawling public databases and by buying advertiser's mailing lists. You're paying for the ease of having the person's contact information in a snap. I like my way better. I think I learn way more about them, and it's free.

I do use their free service though. When you search for someone on a pay site, they reveal a tiny bit of information to let the searcher know they're in the system. No one would subscribe otherwise. The only one worth mentioning is spokeo.com. When you type in a username, it generates a big page of social media links to try. Like if you typed in bob9, it'd generate facebook.com/bob9 myspace.com/bob9 last.fm/bob9 and so on. Makes things easy.

I suggest opting yourself out of the pay sites. They are purposefully difficult to opt out of though. Some of them require you to fax in your request or send them a picture of your driver's license. (abine.com/optouts.php). It isn't a one time thing either. Because they buy advertiser's mailing lists, you can get put back in the system, like if you sign up for a "win a new pair of shoes" contest, it will have "upon entry, you agree to let us sell your personal information" in the terms of service, it gets sold to the pay background check site, and then you're back in the system.

While you're opting out of stuff, you can also opt out of the phone book (yellowpagesoptout.com), junk mail (dmachoice.org), and the "you've been pre-qualified for a credit card" offers (optoutprescreen.com).

I use some software called lastpass to make hiding easier. It lets me to store all of my usernames and passwords in a password protected online database. This means I have 20 character passwords for every website I go to and a unique username on each one. Nothing is connected. When I choose a username, I try to choose a dictionary word like "Skunk". Something like "Skunk1234" is going to reveal search pages of stuff just on you, but using the one I suggested will be you combined with millions of pages on how to remove skunk odor, skunk pictures, any anyone who's ever typed that word online.

I guess that's it. Hope you got something out of reading this.
