Awesome finds, man! I look forward to seeing your habitat shots... the bluegreen bruising on the foremost caps in your 3rd pic is truly drool worthy, making any prints of those?

yes, there is some major blue-green bruising. I just wish I had really captured the color. They were much more green than last years.
And, yes, I'm sure that I will take some prints. I actually still have a lot from last year.

I'm in the same boat someguy >:(. I went to my creek yesterday searchin and didnt find shitt. I've got the right habitat right? I mean I found the patch my avatar came from in the same creek last year. But it was late april. Habitat pics below, need advice
Question 1: Is this the "knotweed" they are known to grow in? This is 15-20 ft away from the creek.

Question 2: I found my avatar pic on the smaller log in this picture last year. Chances of them spawning up in the same spot?

Just another 2 habitat pics:

I went down there yesterday and the only fungi growth I could find was this guy right here

Too early for northern kentucky? Hows the habitat look? Methinks more rain but if a fellow kentuckian found the first its got me thinking they are out there

that looks like a good spot to me, and if you found them there last year, obviously thats a good sign. OP found some last year between luisville/cincinati, to so I reckon that where he found them at. I'm afraid my patch may have dried up I can't get out today, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow. It really hurts that someone else found them first, but obviously they are out. Maybe tomorrow I'll post pics of a massive haul I think that the weather determines when they could come out, but if the temps are right, but there is no rain, they won't pop. We got 1 1/4 inch of rain last wed/thurs. So I bet they just started after the rain. OP just happened to be in a place that had rain just at the right time and they grew at the first possible time.

Yeah I'm pretty sure we received a frost last night too. Temps dropped down into 30's. Another 2 questions. How far from the creek ft wise should I be looking for these guys? and when it DOES rain, best optimum time to go hunting? The day after?

I found galerina in this creek so I don't want to eat any mushies till they get T.I'd. I'm no mycologist. I just love the sacred art of tripping . I think this is a galerina, correct?

.
am I mislead by looking for these piles at the bends of the creek for em? or are these not the type of wood debris they grow on?

OP is gonna have to start a new thread, I'm spamming this one up Last year when I found them, I didn't start the official thread, because I figured it would be weeks before anyone else found them. I aught to go back and check those dates. The ones I've found ranged from right beside the creek to maybe 30 yards from it, but the distance probably don't matter, if the creek flooded, it pushed all of the debri up the banks and into the feilds, and then the spores would have been dispersed more. I have been watching the same patch for 4 years and they seem to move East every year(the prevailing winds blow east, so the wind is usually blowing east and the spores are blowing east, know what I mean?) edit; yea, I can't say thats definately a galerina, the pics are blurry, but I can say it is a good one to stay away from

30yards so we're talking 90 fts within the banks? We had mass flooding last year. I remember living by this site during my hunting. http://www.erh.noaa.gov/ohrfc/. Where i'm at, last year, we had record flooding. River went up to 50-60ft. http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=iln&gage=ccno1
This massive flooding should send flushes all through the creeks, correct? Sorry i'm asking too many questions, i've got the same obsession

Here's some nice knotweed habitat pics new2shroomzz.It wont get that tall or thick till about late april though.Your gonna have to crawl through this delightful jungle to find the big clusters but they tend to grow around the bases of the plant.
