There seems to be a widely shared opinion that Florida is the kind of place you can go around shooting smudgy people with impunity.
I'd like to see the conversation focus more on the culture of the region. Actual facts of the events leading to the shooting are sparse, at least for the moment.

"I've had cases in Florida against prosecutors,” Dershowitz said, “and this is not the first time they have willfully omitted exculpatory evidence. It's a continuing problem. Here, it’s not only immoral, but stupid. The whole country is watching. What do they benefit from having half-truths in an affidavit?"
Dershowitz added, "I'm not taking sides, but I'm insisting that both sides play by the rules, and so far the prosecution is not playing by the rules."

This clause doesn't apply to the states...it only applies in federal court.

The term "special prosecutor" where I work is synonymous with "pencil pusher"...they have so little trial experience that we actually have pet names for them that indicate their ineptitude...There's "Professor Hearsay" who can't seem to learn the rules of evidence...we have "Wanda Witness" who always seems to think that she's testifying...In one year, she had four mistrials for saying inappropriate things in front of a jury...in the same case!

Black panthers talk alot of shit about wanting to kill george zimmerman, but when it comes down to it they are not doing it, the black people not already in prison are terrified of it i guess. I cant blame them I dont want to be in prison either.
