Primo thats good to hear then. I'm still drawing blanks at my usual spots but the amanita's certainly seem to have kicked into gear where I am.

No one found any more? It's been a bit wet and humid recently, I'm gonna go look when I get back to Christchurch.

Anyone know how aucklands going? Are the subs out yet?
mod edit: 4. Do not ask about current finds in your area. These posts have been flooding the forum for years. If you're curious about if mushrooms are growing in your area, get out there and look! Mushrooms don't read the books. Sometimes they fruit outside of season. There is no set date for any season, only vast generalizations. Your best bet is that if it's close to the season for the mushroom you are looking for and its been raining, you just might find some.

Those things look like aliens egg sacks. What do they taste like and do they pop in your mouth when you bit into them?

just to rub it in, aquired these today in a trade with a friend, although some were picked a bit young

too bad i didnt have a camera last year i got at least 700+ specimens. and before my first post on this thread i found 5 lots of them between jan 2nd - mid march usually getting between 15-25+ each time. any1 have experience with preserving these? drying doesnt work too well, ive done honey and it worked ok if half dry. and they taste pretty foul - thick leathery skin, or semi decayed mush and they have lice in them sometimes, if your very lucky you get a nice sized worm in them too, mmmm delicious. tea doesnt work too well just munch em fast haha
