Weraroa Find Today [Re: Bluing]

So, after finding what turned out to be Mycenas this morning, me and Mrs Bluing went for our usual daily run. 5 minutes from home, she gets a stone in her shoe and has to stop for a minute. So I stop too for a moment, lean against a grassy bank, and look down........
After the run and full of enthusiasm, I decide to go out for another bit of exercise, but for another purpose. I found two other spots within a few hundred metres of the original one..
The first group represent 16 grams of fresh. The 2nd group just over 9 grams of fresh, but I am drying them. I expect to end up with about 2.5 grams of dried.
Mrs Bluing and I have never ever had any form of 'experience' and have been looking at this for a long long time and studying.....a lot. We want to go straight into a Level 5. We are not doing this for 'recreational' purposes.
Not sure what the efficacy of Weraroa is like as we can't find much science on it, but suspect it's at least as powerful as subs. I'm thinking 5 grams dried should do it, but want to make sure so will probably go to 7 grams.
Anyone who has got there on this stuff, if you could give me an idea of doseage (Calculator doesn't include Weraroa)would be appreciated.
These things are really ugly. And interesting. Going for another walk tomorrow by the look of it......
For anyone who hasn't come across them - I was surprised at how dry the area was that I found them, and most seemed to be in pretty good condition. Native bush with grass bordering it.
Today represents about 4 hours of searching.

Having a secotioid form (where they don't open up all the way) seams to provide some protection against dessication. Not drying out before spores mature seams to give mushrooms with this morphology an advantage in dry environments, at least thats the best idea so far to explain why there is a higher abundance of secotioid forms in arid environments. Very neat find by the way.

Well, went for another walk today with Mrs Bluing. We are shedding the pounds at least.....
Found a few more - another 25.5gm :
Dig the biggest two on the left - the largest weighs over 9gm on its own and the one next to it 6.2gm........
here is some perspective on the size of the big one:
Yes, that's a smallish feijoa we bought at supermarket!!
I have never seen anything like it - at first I though it was a fruit someone had dropped or something!!

Damn, i wish i could get my hands on some weraroa! If only they were abundant in the south island. Has anyone heard of or know someone who has hauled any weraroas in the south? any particular trees or bushes to scope around? Ive skimmed though most threads here to do with nz mushys without any clue.

Yeah, when i first saw the Entoloma hochstetteri mushrooms (posted on previous page) i was like holy shit! Quite an amazing site, especially in real life, the bright blue colour is outstanding when you come accross it in the middle of a forest. Apparently, you can only find them in New Zealand and India (strange).
Also, speaking of the Weraroa's, does anyone know of their natural range in NZ? Particularly how far north you can find them? Its my goal this year to find some of them. I live about 3 hours north of aucks. But im not sure if they even grow this far up here.

Hmmmmmm,
Me and Mrs Bluing are visiting BOI soon. She mentioned about Weraroa up there, I said not likely..... maybe they are. I had some funny idea they were not further north than about mid North Island - hope I'm wrong.
Third walk today - just got back - another 12gm fresh. I wont bother with photos.
This is nuts - I understood they were 'rare' and I'm finding them in about a 5km range at present - I simply can't be bothered going further a field. I was gearing up for subs as being my first ever finds, and never even considered Weraroa.
Someone said on another thread that if you dry Weraroa (which I am doing) they are not effective. Someone else said that if that was so, they were the only psilocybin containing mushroom that would lose effectiveness. I hope they are right on that score, that it doesn't........

Nice, cheers for that info mate, that's what I wanted to hear. I live like an hour or two south of Keri, i'm gonna go for a big hunt in native bush tomorrow, wish me luck. It's my goal to find the Weraroa.
Any particular plant/tree species they prefer to grow near/under? I've read they're commonly found growing by dead fern fronds, and on rotting mahoe/whiteywood and cabbage tree. This sound right?

i look in valleys along streams, they still need a fair bit of light to fruit i think, and rotting mahoe is the main 1 i find them on, although a find most of mine in and around wandering jew as its taken over their habitat, keeps them wet though. to be honest its like the weraroa have guided me along the way, dreams showing me new spots and the feeling of deja vu where they are. they are very mystical things, takes hours of searching as they are usually quite far spread out, but i dont mind as its totally worth it for what you get from them, good luck and dont give up, ive spent several hours looking and just as you give up you nearly stand on one!

You might want the little ones grow a little more before you pick them next time. Make sure they have a chance to drop spores so they can grow in the same location next year.
