Thanks man, I thought so. The first picture I uploaded on accident. I never actually picked them.
Does anyone know what the best way to prepare subaeruginosa?

So as most people have probably heard it's been snowing down south, what does this mean for shrooms? I havent found any yet this season, but i was told today by some guys that the season was over here and they had gone looking but only found rotten ones, so i was wondering if shrooms grow prity much all winter round?

hey guys,
I'm new to this site but it's been a massive study distraction for the past week or so. So, I got into mycology last year after i was shown P.subsectoid by a more experienced hunter in the auckland area. I've now moved down to palmy and have found what i think to be some P.subaeruginosa( i could be wrong as i've never seen other any other species), maybe a P. cubensis? Anyway I thought I'd share some pics.
Take it sleazy.

I just thought the yellow one looked cool, no idea what it is

Cubensis grow in paddocks where farm animals shit...
They look similar to the Subaeruginosa I gather but I am no expert...
Wait for a TI to confirm...

Im close to certain Cubensis don't grow in NZ..The third pic looks like maybe a Gymnopolis specie.

The third pic looks neither like a Gymnopilus nor a Gymnopus, I am not sure what a Gymnopolis looks like but they are not that either.
They are Psilocybe subaeruginosa.

this is close to teh kind of mushroom shown in picture three. Very round head, yellow to gold colour, and a noticeable cracking on the surface making it look like leather.
Aeruginosa do not behave like this. There are many pictures in this thread of Aeruginosa picked in NZ and Auckland. None of them have that flat, rounded profile, the pattern on the surface or that coloring.

The second two images are Psilocybe subaeruginosa, not "Aeruginosa", there is no Psilocybe with that epithet. In the past Stropharia aeruginosa was placed in the genus Psilocybe but it is now placed in the genus Stropharia, it does not contain psilocin/psilocybin.
The image you posted above is a Gymnopilus species and has nothing in common with slimedogs third image which is P. subaeruginosa, they are the same as the specimens in his second image.
The first image shows Favolaschia calocera.

ok well, if your vision tells you the second and third pictures are the same mushroom, and secondarily, that the third nothing in common with the G's i just posted...i don't know what to say. Get an eye test. I see both of these regularly around here and they are two demonstrably different mushrooms. Those two pictures ALONE show marked difference in appearance. Only in a parallel universe do mushrooms of completely different profile represent the same specie.

Also uhh Stropharia Aeruginosa bares no resemblance to Psilocybe subaeruginosa....I'm not sure if you're trying to say i would mix the two up, or that because i didn't include "sub" in my classification that automatically means i don't know what im doing.... Either way, its a flimsy defense of calling those mushrooms the same specie.

this pile is a haul of subaeruginosa from last year. The one at the top is a Gymnopilus and resembles closely slimedog's third picture. They are different mushrooms.

You'll miss the best psychedelic conference this year..... Graham Hancock, Dennis McKenna, Mitch Schultz 'and more' on October 18th.
Edit: 2Bob, noticed you're in Melb also.. May want to take note.
