The grain jars look like they're ready to rock, and the 5 of the pf cakes will be fully colonized by tomorrow. I used today as the opportunity to build my monotub and modify my SGFC.
For the monotub, it's 18 gallons, with 4 1.5" diameter holes drilled centered at 5.25" above the bottom, as I'm shooting for a 4" substrate. It also has 2 holes up at the top of the same size. Will this work? I'm getting amped up for the next move!

your tub should have two holes on each of the long width sides and one hole at the top of the tube on the other two short width sides.

I screwed up the hole placement a bit then, but, i imagine the air will still flow no matter what.. I have a low hole on every side, and the two high holes are on the long side.
This is however, my setup, now with timers and all that jazz...
I did successfully modify the SGFC I was making, I used a sheet of Lexan, and I siliconed/taped it to one side of the lid so that it would raise and lower, then I used an x-acto knife to cut away the plastic except for the convenient low places i used to hold up the lexan on the other side. I then siliconed around the edge to reduce draft, and cut it away from itself once it had dried. The end result is thus:

No worries, it should still work. You will probable have to play with the density of you Poly fill to get the FAE right though. Remember to keep the holes covered with tape till the tub has fully colonized and the sub straight has pulled away from the sides. then put the Poly fill in your holes! Good luck on your grow, and if you have any other question, just ask!

So, I just popped out three of my cakes after 1 week of consolidation, and two of them have a nice strong mushroom smell.. One of them however, smells a bit like bleach.. I don't see any visible contam, but since it smells different I've kept it isolated.. Any idea why it would smell like that?

Like bleach you say? I'm not to familiar with contams like that. You have it isolated and that's good. I would do a search on it though in the conatms forums.

Update: The bleach smell on the one cake went away, along with a sliiiightly different odor on another cake. I have 8 cakes in the chamber now, and 4 dunking.
Speaking of the dunk, none of the 4 newest jars appeared to have pins, but upon popping them out of the jar, I saw one had somewhere around 10 teeny tiny little guys! However, they were so poorly attached that most of them fell off just from lightly rinsing them!
The FC is built and corrected for RH, getting about 95-97% when the light's off, and a bit lower, something like 89 when the light is about to shut off after 12 hours.
The bulk grow i'm playing at is going very slowly, I suspect simply though that I spawned too early, and used too low of a ratio.. Sad day.
This photo is about 10 days or so after spawning.. No contams, but.. hardly any myc either. I used about a 1/4" of coir/verm on top of the mix like in damion5050's coir tek, so I'm wondering if it's acting more like a casing than a sub, and if I should switch to fruiting conditions soon.. Thoughts?
As far as the pin porn goes, the only pins on my cakes have been ones that were left over from in vitro pinning, nothing new has popped out yet, and these pins are about 3 days old.. I feel like my growth is slow, and the caps of the little blob guys have little white specks which I suspect to be mycelium on them.. Is this bad? What should I do about it if it is? Also, the slow growth makes me suspect lack of proper fruiting conditions.. What should I change?

No, they look good, what are your temps? The one on the bottom right of the pic is gonna be a beast if it keep growing and fully matures. The last one AFOAF had that looked like that weighed 34g at harvest. And the white spots are indeed just mycelium, it's not bad, some ppl say its from really high rh, but idk. Its def not bad tho. Just keep doing what your doing, keep rh up and light 12/12... How often are u fanning and misting?

It gets a bit warm in the closet during the heat of the day, peaking around 80F at midday. Drops to less than 75 at night though usually. I figured if shrooms are growing naturally outside at temps 10 degrees hotter than that, I shouldn't be too worried, but you know what they say about assumptions.
I hope you're right, I'm pretty excited to pick my own mushrooms! Dreams do come true!
I'm misting lightly about 3 times per day, with a little bit of water absorbed into the small verm pile on top of the cakes. I leave my fan on in the room most of the day, so it's getting a BIT of air movement from that for about 12 hrs, and I'd like to be fanning it optimally about 5 times per day, but that may not happen considering the busy-ness of coming days..

So, the mushrooms are growing..... But I'm only growing little fucked up mutants. The caps are opening when the mushroom is only like an inch tall? What the hell?
Help me figure that one out please!

I'm actually not sure what you're insinuating. My FAE is too low?

Dude, dont sweat it, that one with the double looking cap is badass... That thing is fat as hell too, you'll have normal mushies on second flush. Mutants are more common on first flush.

Haha, thanks for the reassurance.. It's easy to get nervous when I see these beautiful flushes and mine turns out kinda troll-like... Also, I'm an over-protective shroom dad.
Glad to hear that I'm still on track!

I'm now seeing about 15-20 more pins that all look like they're going to mature into the same small, fat button shroom style shrooms. After searching a bit, it looks as though the culprit may actually be the strain choice itself. When i purchased the spores i was firmly of RR's opionion that "a cube is a cube". It seems now though that people buying from THE are getting uniformly the type of fruit i'm seeing. The main difference i'm noticing in my fruit is:
My shrooms have very little to no veiling, and the gills are pale off-white, and appear to not contain spores.. why the sterility?

So. Big update. After about a week or two of fruiting, the shroom gods seem pleased!
I've been harvesting about 3g dry per day for the last 2 weeks or so, and that makes me a very happy camper...
I've got to say, the Shroomery is the best! Thank you for all your advice!
