When you pay more to get your package that you are shipping through FedEx to have a "special handling" or something similar stick put on it, it means absolutely nothing. At all.
Your packages (not on purpose) get dropped, yanked, smushed, smashed, re-packed and everything else.

When your doing home repairs, check with the local habitat for humanity restore shop first. I do home repairs and can save anyone loads of cash. I replaced a water heater for $160 that was quoted a $1200 job by someone else.
Win for everyone.

i work at a car dealership.
We often don't fully fix unsafe trade-ins before we sell them on the used car lot.
Same markup, lower overhead, higher bonuses for the fat fucks who do nothing all day.

All of your information winds up on your medical records. Then the records end up in huge warehouses, where people who are underpaid go and find them when they are needed. They have access to your social security #, your address, your phone number and your mothers maiden name. Sometimes your chart will get lost or stepped on or torn to shreds. There is no security. And the employer doesn't do a background check on employees.
But it is pretty cool to be potentially saving lives for a living.

I have a few friends who work at a car dealership. Two of them left because they couldn't take the sleazy feeling they had leaving work every day. They say cars are marked up way too high, they charge people way too much interest, who they know can't afford it, and just generally fuck as many people over as they can for their commission checks.

Im suprised "going Postal" hasnt turned into "Going tanning salon".

there is a certain jaguar that if you dont put the dash back on correctly, the passanger side airbag will deploy at random times.
Land Rover Jaguar has the best buy back policy.. they would rather buy the car back give you spiffs to buy another one than fight it in a 'lemon law type case'

people who shop for cars are dipshits.
i'm online chat assistance for a company that provides the service 24/7 to a growing number of dealerships across the country. i suppose that car salesmen have made such a bad reputation for themselves that when people interact with me they assume i'm just as slimey. really, i'm just a secretary and the less cooperative the caller is the less help i can provide. some callers get irate when they quickly find out i'm not a sales or service specialist. like i'm sitting in the garage of billy bob's super neat hyundai's at 11pm on a monday night waiting for them to call. when i get someone who understands what's going on it's a pleasure, but for the most part i find it terrifying that i share the road with these pricks.

On behalf of all tanning employees, thanks for not pissing in the garbage. We appreciate it.
Let's see, I had a 60 year old guy tell me he wants one of the rooms in the back because "he likes to moan when he masturbates". I use latex gloves, heavy sanitizer, and industrial lysol when he leaves a bed.
I had a 17 year old girl take a huge shit (like full on huge log) in the garbage in a room directly across from the bathroom. I put her on a temporary ban from tanning for 2 months but she never came back after that. But I still had to clean it and the stench permeated the salon for the entire day.
We have drop-down ceilings and one room had an awful smell being emitted from it and so I moved the ceiling tiles and there was a garbage bag up there with piss and shit in it. Someone tied up the baggie and put it in the ceiling so we wouldn't notice it directly after they left.
I've had someone trail menstrual blood from a booth all the way to the bathroom. I had to mop it up.
Oh my god, there's so many awful stories its hard to remember every single one. You'd be surprised how often it happens. We use really strong, industrial sanitizers which destroy most shit. But having to clean that stuff as part of your job is so degrading. I have to stand up there, smile, look friendly & sweet, and sell expensive lotion, all the while cleaning beds like a maid, and wipe up shit like a nurse.
What really drives me nuts is people who are not aware of their own B.O. These like 400lb women come into the salon, smelling before they get in, lay in a bed and sweat buckets, and then I have to go in with a hand towel and wipe up their butt & back sweat and try not to gag on their chicken-soup smelling B.O. Just got a body spray for like $3 at Walmart for the love of god!!!!
I've had really obese women crack the acrylic on the bed because they're so big. The beds actually have a weight limit of 250lbs. If you're over that, your're supposed to go in a booth. But no one is really comfortable saying that to someone so we often have to change the acrylics of beds.

no.
but word to the wise to anyone using chat to help shop for cars; don't be a dick. the service is meant to streamline your buying experience. we're not identity thieves, and speaking personally i really don't give a shit who you know at the dealership, how expensive of a car you're trying to get or any of that. if you wanna be a control freak asshole save it for when you get to sit down with a sales associate.
also, not being cooperative can lead to me losing bonus money. money that i, as a full time student who's career field is completely dead, could kind of use for frivolous stuff like prescription medication and food. so pretty please, use the service by all means but if you're just going to come in in person or call, save us all the headache of dealing with your dumb ass when we could be making money.

most people can't. it's a new product. my company's just been bought out by a national company and you will be seeing a lot more of it.
we're 24/7 online assistance for people who don't have the time to shop at a dealership in person or, in most cases, can't get through to speak with someone regarding a vehicle they're interested in (because they're too busy making deals to sit on the phone with someone who's just shopping). on the customer side, we provide help with shopping the online inventory and navigating the website as well as a faster way to get them in touch with a specialist (from service, sales etc). the reason this is faster is because prior to sending in the log of our chats, we gather a complete list of all of the cars the prospective buyer is interested in as well as their contact information. our system is basically a honeypot for car sales staff because we dump serious leads right in their laps. so naturally, a sales manager is going to be prone to contact someone from the system faster than bosephus leaving a message on his voicemail.
it's a win/win situation for both sides of everyone understands what's going on.

man i wish. we get hourly + monthly conversion lead bonuses but nothing close to what sales get. so if someone just wants to get me to work without giving any contact info i don't get paid aside from my meagerly hourly rate. but hey, it's a steady job with a great company and my boss is a close friend of mine - him and his brother actually wrote the software that we use. i get to work from home and it's great as a student job, and there's a lot of potential for me moving into a different department if i'd like to after graduation.
