Is there really as much gold in that fucker as they say? Why are its contents so secret?
What really happened with Thomas Mantell??

The Wikery says it's not even the largest US gold stash. I tend to believe it's all there simply because of the paperwork involved in doing anything with it. Easier to steal your billions with a computer.
But what else besides gold might be in there, that's an interesting question.

Ive been to Knox and the security is redicilous! Ive not seen or come close to the vault but there has to be SOMETHING Of value to hold that kind of security(now the BIG question is the thinking there could be all the gold in there still be worth all the security still there)

Or maybe nothing is there, and the security just creates the illusion of such things.

Also Thomas Mantell
Wiki...
UFO incident Main article: Mantell UFO incident
On January 7, 1948 the tower man at Godman Army Air Field received a telephone call from the military police saying they had received a call from the Kentucky State Highway Patrol who in turn reported that they were taking calls about something flying over Maysville, Kentucky. The information was brought to the attention of the base operations officer, the intelligence officer and the base commander Guy F. Hix.[1] None was able to identify the object.[1]
With the unidentified object still visible, Captain Mantell, was asked if he would investigate. Mantell replied he would attempt to intercept and began a spiraling, climbing turn to 220 degrees and 15,000 feet.[1] He later reported that the object was "metallic and it is tremendous in size".[1] With the object still above him, he reported he would continue to climb.[1] Further radio and visual contact with Mantell was lost. Subsequent search revealed the remains of Mantell's aircraft, found scattered over about a half a mile near a farm close to Franklin, Kentucky.

Doesn't seem like much of an incident. If aliens were attacking Ft Knox, they'd have sent more than one craft. And we'd have as well. Would have been an epic battle. One plane missing is just another UFO story..

An epic battle for what? I assume if there was indeed a UFO over fort knox and they "came for something" well then they got it.
But what are you talking about exactly? One plane missing? A well known member of the military went to check out a ufo and his plane crashed and burned.
I mean thats pretty interesting.

That exact scenario has played out hundreds of times- what's special about this one?

Mystery object sighted, pilot gives chase, plane lost mysteriously. Yep, that's the standard scenario.
What are you seeing that's different in this incident? Location? Quantity of craft? Timing relative to [some other incident]? Number of letters in his name?

So your reasoning is the more something unexplainable happens the less interesting it is? This 'standard scenario' involves military personnel, million dollar planes, a pilot who died and several liable witnesses (they are public servants after all). That's not just like a dude saying he saw a light in the sky. If you don't even take the trouble to analyze something but call it off as 'just another story' then how can you absorb that information and make your own conclusions about it?

No, my reasoning is that nothing Deadhearts posted distinguishes this from other incidents. There's been a lot of UFOs over the last 400 years, I can't explain them all. Even if I could, that would be a different thread. This thread is about Ft. Knox. Did you see anything in Deadheart's post about Ft Knox, or how it relates? I didn't.
UFOs are weird. Ft. Knox is weird. Doesn't mean they are connected.

The UFO incident apparently happened right next to Knox which is why the military got involved in the sighting in the first place. How they could be connected I dont know.

Some think the gold was sold and put into the markets if that makes sense? I forgot exactly what I read.

Maybe some nuclear weapons...? Or a new weapon (James Bond laser beam haha) I feel like Fort Knox is like Area 51: They are both mysterious because there is too little info out there to draw a good conclusion about what they could be hiding... Just my opinion.
