I think last year was so crowded because of all the mud. People were packing into the dryer areas instead of being more dispersed.

I went to Scamp 2 years back and had the time of my life. Superb vibes, great music, just an all around great atmosphere. I highly recommend going. Didn't make it last year due to me being in a wedding, but I will be there again this year.

There's Blackwater in September and Purple Hatters in May. That's about it. It's too goddam hot to have a fest in the heart of summer.

Electric forest in MI is mind blowing. The forest is completely magical and completely worth the trip. Plus, three night of string cheese incident. Not did they kill it last year, but they really cacre about the festival and put wayyy more into it than any other festival ive experienced. They're the reason the forest is nuts just hear them jamm "Joyful Sound," live: http://youtu.be/l4rbbS2hhRY

just to be clear here, SCI just headlines the festival ok
Insomniac Events are the promoters and THEY are the reason the forest and the production is at a top notch level and they are the reason the lineup is awesome

Wasn't trying to give SCI the sole responsibility of the success of eforest, just respecting the fact that they care and put effort back into communities and areas they play at. They're not some snobby headlining act that just wants to sell tickets. They also want the experience to be memorable and magical. No dis to insomniac events or the promoters. A great festival is OBVIOUSLY a collaboration of passion and excitement from ALL parts that create it.

The lighted forest existed at rothbury music festival one and two, and I dont think insomniac was the promoter at that time. I thought it was a Madison House thing back then.
SO maybe insomniac/madison house is currently responsible for the lighting of the forest but the idea was born back a while ago under madhouse.

Couldn't be more true. SCI knows how to put on amazing productions that jive with the community
Just for reference, Chicago winter 2011

ive heard that the forest for EFF is way cooler and set up way better than when it was done with rothbury...there are obviously different promoters from rothbury to EFF...just cuz its in the same spot doesnt mean EFF has ANY assocation with rothbury

I guess you missed the part about madison house being part of the production of both rothbury and electric forest festival.
Go to
http://www.rothburyfestival.com/
and look at the bottom right of the page and look where there's little icons that say "madison house presents" and "AEG"
Now.. go to the bottom left corner of
http://www.electricforestfestival.com/
and notice how there's two icons
one says "insomniac" and the other says "madison house presents"
I won't challenge you with any more reading comprehension.. Carry on

Yeah hah, i realized i messed up trying to prove my point so I edited it.. thanks for looking out Calvin and Hobbes!
At any rate, the electric forest festival is probably pretty dope. A little too far from me to make it work though.
