IME you don't really find a mate, it just happens. Maybe it's different for you, but it never works for me to just 'decide' I'm going to find a mate.

Find a mate as in pick up women in random places. E-harmony, walmart, bars, book stores. Thats how I role. Hopefully I will find one I like and can date for a while. Well the train full of perfectly eligible single women without kids left about 7 years ago.
At your age they're single for a reason...and you get to find out why.

So at some point, everyone will have to accept a compromise:
- date 18-year olds and accept a large age difference
- date eligible women with kids
- date non-eligible women but enjoy them nonetheless (learn to deal with unbalanced psychos)
Apart from that, I disagree with your assessment. At age 27, it's perfectly normal and reasonable to date a girl of, say, 23. Many of them don't have kids.

Yes, aim young. Your tactic aligns with mine. The younger, without kids, the better. Though you risk immaturity.
The older you find without kids...the more likely you're ending up in moratorium or diffusion.

Thats not really true based off of my experience. I am 26 now and I have been dating childress single women for the past two years. In fact I have yet to even discover a milf. You really just have to know where to look. Searching on foot is a trail and error kind of thing. Then there is E-harmony and Match.com. Those websites are perfect for meeting childless single women. I met a couple off E-harmony.
At this age its not so much children I run into, but rather lots of people with crushed hearts.
There are so many damn eligible women out there its crazy. The picking is not slim.

I'm 29 and I find no shortage of perfectly eligible singe women with no kids.
Perhaps it's your location was the walrus?
