I am not allowed to give out TI badges to whoever I want anymore. Koraks put an end to that a few weeks ago. Now I have to post TI nominations in the moderator forum and give the other mods one week to object.
I guess its a good thing, but it raises the bar quite a bit.
I will nominate you for TI in 6 months or so if you keep studying at your present pace.

Had to get out there before the big storm system moves through. I wanted to get a baseline so I can compare with a few days after what will likely be an inch of rain. Hope you enjoy!
There were many older Polyporus out there.
And a few destroying angels as well (right?).
Are these Russula brevipes? I didn't taste them and they had no distinct smell. The gill shot isn't that great, but it's definitely a Russula of some sort.
These two beefcakes are either Boletus or Suillus. It rained a bit last night which may be why they are so wet. They are not slimy nor are they sticky. Any ideas?
I was only out there for about 2 hours before I had to beat the storms home, but still found some random cool stuff.
The beetles are carrion beetles, Necrophila americana . The caterpillar is a black swallowtail butterfly (Papilio polyxenes) larvae. Not sure what the orange flower is, but it's beautiful . It really is that bright orange! I didn't enhance the color at all

Russula brevipes is a large mushroom, in my experience. Not sure what type of Russula you have.
I would say Suillus for your boletes. The coloring looks right.

I agree with RD that your Russula isn't R. brevipes. As it's name implies its' stalk is very short...much shorter than the cap width. White capped Russula aren't as common as some other colors...kinda narrows it down a little. Could be Lactarius. Did you check for latex? Judging by the pore color your Suillus could also be Tylopilus. Spore print color?
Your flower is Asclepias tuberosa, "Butterfly Weed". A milkweed.
Nice pics, man! Keep it up!

I did not check for latex because the mushroom just felt so Russula-ish. I will likely head back there tomorrow and slice one up. The bolete is printing now, but I just had to elevate it since all I was getting was condensation instead of spores. I think you can see a bit of spore print color on the apex of the stipe in the 2nd photo. Thanks for the flower ID, too! Didn't realize it was so common.
Thank you to RiverDweller as well. I thought R. brevipes because of the white cap and brownish discolorations. Two were small, but there was one much larger cap as well which I didn't photograph... sigh.

I don't know, all that was left was some fur and a bit of meat. It still smelled really foul though, so that photo is at 35x zoom from like 8 feet away. The closest I could come to identifying it is
I hadn't heard of the carrion beetles either until I got home and looked them up.
