yea.. that makes sense. Is it a good idea to maybe 're soak' the perlite with fresh filtered water, pour a few bottles or a pitcher from the fridge and let it run through the perlite before introducing the fallowing cakes??

Nice.. I'll pry do that to be safe to keep humidity high. Just another quick question.. if fruiting goes well, id want to remove a cap with sterilized exact o knife right when its veil breaks for a good spore print, correct?

I really wish I could but all three still have about 15% uncolonized substrate so I feel I must wait until they are truly ready. On the bright side three will be entering together. hopefully the one in there will be on its 2nd-3rd flush

Will pinning still occur if humidity is 70-75%?? I have a feeling i drilled too many holes in the fruiting chamber and humidity isnt as high as it should be (bottom of page 2) They myc is lookin good and growing clumps on it but its been 10 days. not gettin down on myself yet.. just lookin for some feedback.

as long as you keep the verm on the cake moist for the most part letting it dry some inbetween misting,it will pin for sure.if your hygrometer is digital still they aren't accurate at high RH.if thats not the case try taping the extra holes you believe are in it,it will help a little bit with the humidity but cut down on FAE indefinitely,find that happy medium,dont get discouraged results will surface soon.and remember with one cake in that FC humidity will be hard to get right in the first place,the sooner you can fill it with cakes the better off you'll be

Thanks cubes4cancer.. Fallowing your accurate and awesome suggestions you previously made, your right again and more accurate than ever! I do supply h2o by mist to the verm on top of the cake, and the misting/fanning occurs at evening, midnight, and morning before work. After the 9hr stretch at work is when I tend to find the verm somewhat dry. I know its being used by the cake (and evaporating). YOU KNOW WHY I KNOW, CUZ YOUR RIGHT AGAIN LIKE I SAID AND I GOT PINS BABY!!!! A NICE FAT GROUP OF EM! PICS COMIN SOON GUYS. thanks cubes!! for all the help and input throughout this study.

Thanks Cubes.. To your eye, they don't look deprived of water or anything do they? Like I mentioned before, I feel the humidity is lower than it should be considering the amount of large holes and the lid is not air tight. Is it safe to add 3 more cakes to this FC, or should I revise a New FC smaller with less holes?

to get them to pin you've been doing something right,the more cakes you add the easier it will be to keep RH up in that FC

I almost wanna grab a group of em and chew em down with some OJ  JK, I wouldn't dare touch these babies yet. Take Spore prints right when the veil tears on a few healthy Fruit Bodies correct?

haha yeah take the print when you first start to notice the veil getting a little purp to it,the spores will start falling like crazy from then on out

Ok, Great. I was just going to mention. It seems like the veil has already torn on 1 or 2 of them but they're only maybe 1.5'' in length. The veil is Pure white tho.. Maybe another day or two huh..

DO you think they will dry out and go bad after 1 or 2 days? What shall I do with all the pins before next dunk?
