Anonymous #12 said: Speaking of Tongans, I work with several as well -- but one in particular...this 20 something girl who sees herself as brilliant, but in reality is the dumbest and most oblivious cunt that you'd ever meet in your life. Yet in her closed off mind she sees everyone around her as inferior.
How are some people so oblivious of their faults? If anything, myself, I'm aware of my deficiencies to a fault.
I have a friend like the girl you described... He thinks is is incredibly intelligent and makes a point of disagreeing with people no matter what they say because he thinks it makes him seem smart! When we argue, I usually just concede because I can't bring myself to tell him he talks like a politician. Yeah, what he's saying is true... but he puts words in my mouth then argues against them like it was my actual opinion and says lots of things that are factual but barely related and certainly not relevant. His logic seems to be "If I start a sentence by disagreeing with you and you + others agree that what I say is true, that must make me right and you wrong". Naturally I don't see much of him these days, except to have a catch up on what's new and swap games and books and such.
I am also aware of my own deficiencies to a fault - I would even go so far as to say that this amplifies them.
It has to be said though, that I wish I was like them. I wish I was egocentric and completely oblivious, believing I was superior to others and a bit of a dick. This sort of delusion seems to make people rather happy.
I'm surprised at how much we seem to have in common #12 - before I joined these forums I was sure there were no others even remotely like me. Now I'm beginning to believe it's just rare which gives me hope.
