You can hit 'reply' to last comment and continue.  That's what I had to do to continue my Oak Basin thread.  I think it's to help keep down responding to way old threads or something.  When I hit reply there was a admin message asking if I was sure what I was adding was relevant.

lol. i hate you for being so good at id'ing mushrooms.
i was searching a swampy area that had wild sugarcane growing alongside it and there they were. i thought something bled on them at first.

The photos through your scope are really quality! The other photos are quite tasty as well :awesomenod:

Is that spore print for the Agaricus? What am I looking at there? Condensation surrounding the brownish-black print? It looks so white!

Is that fuzzy orange/white stuff growing on shit?

And finally, I really like the way that Deconica species looks. Neat little mushroom. Great stuff as always, bruddah.

well, it wasn't glorious to say the least.
thank you both for the well wishes.
it was a lot dryer than i had anticipated.
fungal growth was minimal.
still got some pretty interesting stuff.
i got lost a few times and that ate up a lot of time.
being lost in the florida wetlands/swamp is no joke.
walked about 12 miles...
it was 6 miles of hiking into the destination.
pretty cool.
it's almost an old-growth forest one would say...
well, at least i say that.
once i start exploring the area more and summertime rolls around i'll throw up some habitat shots.

1-2 Phaeolus schweinitzii
3-4 ??
4-5 Clitocybe sp.
6-8 ??
9-10 ??
11-14 Amanita citrina group
15-17 Endocronartium harknessii - id'd by riverdweller
18 Hexagonia hydnoides
19-21 Ganoderma sp.
22-24 Macrolepiota subrhacodes
25 flower
26-31 ?? Armillaria sp.

3 and 4 look like Fuligo septica.
It may be fun to bring back one of those citrina things and put it in the fridg and see if it turns purple anywhere if it does prehaps A. citrina f. lavendula see http://www.amanitaceae.org/?Amanita%20citrina%20f.%20lavendula it needs the cold to make its color change.

Fuligo septica it is...i'm used to seeing it present as yelllowish, so it threw me off a bit.
i keep all A. citrina i find and keep them in the fridge for a bit. i have not yet had any turn purple. i'll keep a lookout though.

:sunny:

pretty good hunt today. hitting the fields and my oak woods this evening.
wanted to throw these up.
perfect weekend to hunt (heavy t-storms last night).
however, i have to work 12hrs sat and sun.
i'm thinking about calling out. :awesomenod:

1. Auricularia auricula-judae
2. Fuligo septica
3-5. Coprinopsis sp.
6-8. Amanita sp. (sect. Caesareae) "I hope you dried this one. This could be very interesting." -ret
www.mushroomobserver.org/obs/89477

9. Auricularia auricula-judae
10-11. Xylocoremium flabelliforme
12. Fuligo septica
13-16. maybe Tyromyces chioneus
17-18. Suillus brevipes
19-22. Tylopilus rhoadsiae
23-24. Pholiota sp. (Cortinarius has been suggested) -growing off of oak

all ideas are welcome.

i love mushrooms. just wanted to add that in there.

Wow, that is really cool!

Did that Amanita really have an annulus?  Looks like there is no easy way to separate section Caesareae from Vaginatae except the annulus.  I wonder if those 2 sections form distinct clades.  Your find suggests that they do not.

Interesting, the Tyromyces (13-16) has maze-like pores and I didn't know they could look like that. But it might help explain a similar mushroom I've been finding that is very mushy, presumably from the recent snow-melt. But it had the maze-like pores which made me wonder if it was Trametes gibbosa. Was yours soft or brittle?

soft...the pores are the only thing that has me questioning the id.
also, if the ones you are finding have "teeth-like" pores...research Trametes villosa.

Fuligo septica
sometimes whey they turn pruple the are being attacked by another fungus.  A hand lens would be needed and look for little things that look like white flower petals at least to me.  The fungus that attacks it is a Nectriopsis there are several sp of it but easy to tell them apart with a little work.

yikes.

no. one of the days falls on the 8th day of the pay period, which is sunday (12hr day making it 52 hrs)...
so it's a little beat, but not that bad.

gainesville, fl is definitely a hot-spot for fungal activity. Murrill was the man!! :awesomenod:
i literally use his book published in 1973 for hunting locations as well as id's.
some of the names are dated, but a quick search in google usually reveals the correction...
i live 2 blocks from where he built his first house and he did not have a car...
so the majority of places he hunted are walkable and still remain somewhat in tact.
the above photos were taken in one of these areas.

i'll shoot you a pm about something that is against the rules...

are your 1-4 "Boletus" Tylopilus?

There are so many beautiful Amanita in your part of the country.  I usually only see the tawny grisettes and amerimuscaria groups (oregon coast).  Good stuff as always man  :discodance:  :discodance:

i printed them overnight covered and got nothing but moisture. going to print uncovered.
the pore surface actually changed to an off-white color.
does this mean anything??
the pore surface still reminds me of Boletus though.

thanks man. i think i got dehydrated or was suffering from slight heat-stroke.
i was cold and throwing up and it was like 90 degrees outside.
i tried to hunt, but only lasted 15 minutes in the heat.
i ate some pasta with butter, garlic, bacon and shiitake.
drank about a gallon of water and went to sleep.
woke up feeling fine.

i've found similar Pluteus on a couple occasions and the stem definitely bruises a tinge of yellow.

your puffball is not C. Cyathiformis, it's the wrong season size and habitat. it is however Lycoprdon Marginatum in my opinion

it is not Lycoperdon marginatum.
the spore mass is white and it lacks the pointy spines.
you have to remember i am in florida. it is 90 degrees right now.
it might not be Calvatia cyathiformis, but the species can be as small as 5cm.

No they are in Boletus due to the color of the pores.

I'm terrible!  I meant to say Leccinum and instead I said Tylopilus.  gah!  I'm too young for oldtimers disease.

Cool Pluteus. I wonder if it could be a faded P. longistriatus? Great swamp shot! Oh how I'd like to go crawling through there!

I don't see anything in those 4 pictures that would suggest Leccinum.  I don't think any Leccinum species have a reticulate stipe.

I was wondering that too...Is S01 known from that far down? Amanita praecox and A. russuloides are also possibilities. They're in section Amanita at any rate...

I was wondering that too...Is S01 known from that far down? Amanita praecox and A. russuloides are also possibilities. They're in section Amanita at any rate...

i don't know. it sure does resemble it.
i'm going to see if ret wants them and if not i'll maybe attempt the microscopy.

Dude, fuckin right ON Bloodworm. Ovoids/Fibs in Florida - now that's sweet :headbanger:

I would say that covering those pins with some foliage would definitely be good for them.

Here's a new one that says FUNG-AI because originally I thought since Wu Tang is a Chinese word, that I would try to make a Chinese-sounding work out of fungi. I would probably..yes definitely wear this on a shirt. Hell yeah :smile2:

You always leave the most combative of comments in my posts.

I thought your bud looks all haired out and larfy.

My mother is dead BTW.

But thanks for telling me Im an idiot and that everyone thinks so.

However, you personally attack me, my dead mother, and my membership on this forum.

Your forum name fits your personality.

cured...
the homegrown i posted was not cured or even dry for that matter.

maybe next time you should inquire about the growers experience and knowledge before you assume.

Nice:thumbup: buds mr Worm. Maybe some day they will grow up to be real plants.

I was just jocking you man - you know? I mean if your gonna sneak in a pic of some kind amongst the shroomies it better be your "A-game" blood, not that hairballed, loosse looking thanks you highlighted :laugh2: or else I'll be here to call you on it...

If you are gonna sneak a pic of some herb in amongst your mushroom pics, then you better post your "A-game", otherwise be prepared for comments.

My bud of Lemon Skunk was grown by myself, in Canna organic coco, with Canna A&B nute line.

Sorry if your bud doesn't compare.... curing isn't gonna help that thing you posted.

Maybe someday your little plants will grow up to be healthy adults:

On a side note I really love the Lentinus crinitus shots! You seem to be finding an amazing variety of mushrooms BW.

Edit: And look at that ring zone on the stem in the picture preceding this one, can't be Psathyrella, git those echinulate spores under a scope, 5 bucks says its Lacrymaria
