Rat snake! Those photos are looking sharp, blood. Megapixels don't matter a whole lot, especially on compact digital cameras where higher MP counts can actually hurt image quality Are you gonna fry up those chicken of the woods?

Got names for the Bolete and Amanita? If I found those early yellow, fragile-ringed Amanitas around here under hemlock, I'd call them A. praecox. Are you calling them species s1?

i believe the Boletus is Buchwaldoboletus lignicola. i think sp-01 is a good fit. it seems i am finding them all over the place now. the white ones in pics 15-18 are interesting...

Id call it Buchwaldoboletus sphaerocephalus - Boletes of North America - Bessette, Roody, Bessette page 117
-------------------- "... I sauntered about from rock to rock, from grove to grove, from stream to stream, and whenever I met a new plant I would sit down beside it for a minute or a day, to make its acquaintance, hear what it had to tell. I asked the boulders where they had been and whither they were going, and when night found me, there I camped. I took no more heed to save time or to make haste than did the trees or the stars. This is true freedom, a good, practical sort of immortality."

Was your Buchwaldoboletus lignicola growing from wood? Did it stain blue rapidly? I checked Wikipedia for reference but the pic is mine so that didn't help. Hate it when that happens! Looks similar to some of the B. lignicola images online.
I didn't even notice the white Amanitas before. They are very interesting. What kind of trees were they under? Any universal veil remnants on any of the caps? Section Amanita I would say. The weak apical ring seems somewhat distinctive.

That Buchwaldo is badass! The colors in that last photo remind me of Yellowstone's hot springs.
How present was the 'limb' atop the bulb in what you are calling A. sp s01?

yes...i think. it was growing at the base of a old broken oak.
Amanita sect. Amanita sounds right. growing under pine. the caps were all pretty veil-free...almost translucent looking.
