sucks to hear that ericos bob. Hope you got someone who can pick a few for you.
I've found a copy of Cleland's guide to fungi but found it a bit too academic for me. Interesting reading still, lots of information, but I didn't buy it in the end. Found a small guide in the library instead, much more visual.

I haven't been out hunting for a while due to a spinal injury and a blown transmission but did manage a very slow wander in the bush. Unfortunately i couldn't bend down to take pictures so I called it a day before too long.

Lovely photos btw.

Hey, just been out picking, ended up a bigger event then I expected.
I drove an hour and a half to picking spot and wondered around. First we weren't very successful at all and were feeling a bit disheartened. Eventually we ran into a good batch and then more and more, we were able to gather a decent collection in the end.
Drove home, dropped friend off and wanted to look at my bag of mushrooms again but... where had I put it? I searched the entire car, no luck. Then I realized what had happened. I'd put the bag on the car to take my jumper off before getting in. We were in a rush to get home and I completely forgot that I'd put it there straight after taking jumper off.
I drove all the way back and searched all around where I'd parked the car with my phone torch, no luck. The whole batch that we'd spent so much effort gathering... gone!
I decided that since I was there, I may as well hunt for some more, at least get something out of the day. I spent hours searching with my phone torch and managed to score a few but not nearly as many as we'd originally picked.
I got in the car and drove slowly down the road, stopping every now and then at every rock and plant that looked like it could be my bag and eventually, there it was, right in the middle of the road! What a relief I can tell you.
So yeh, successful day overall
Here are some pictures:
This Amanita was huge!

Went for a hunt today at my usual spot. Got a much lighter haul than every other pick this season which was disappointing and unexpected given the amount of rain there's been.
I have a feeling some slut's picking my patch. I just hope they're not rapists.
It's about time I found a new one anyway though so oh well.

Thanks for the well wishes Stopwhispering. I'm still able to walk so which allows me to go on the easy trails. If I gotta squat to take a dump I'm in real trouble though
I appreciate the ID's too. There were a couple specimens I was uncertain of. I think the highlight of the hunt was coming across the green cortinarius

Some of my patches are slowing up whereas others are flourishing. I don't think it's necessarily that your patch has been picked by someone else. Finding patches away from high traffic areas is well worthwhile in my opinion

After only searching in Eucalypt areas, finally started checking out certain pine forests around (a well known, and another one right off the grid) with literally zero luck. Not a single sub. I read people saying they only search in pine forests, and the only places I've found them in the past have been Eucalypt areas.
It's actually getting quite frustrating now. Not finding anything anywhere for the last few hunts. Following all advice given in this thread with no luck, and the hauls I was getting wearn't anywhere near as large as anyone elses in the thread. Im tired, frustrated, jelous and I need to stock up before the end of season. Please help. Anyone.
P.S. How the hell do I identify the Pinus Radiata or whatever its called. All the bloody pines look the same.

Some pics from a walk today. I went out in search of some interesting psilocybe subaeruginosa specimens. I did find a few I don't run into every day. Below are some darker subs which often have a white ring around the outer pileus as seen. Perhaps just left overs from the veil.

Next some very tiny subs which were growing amongst pines and grasses in a deep valley. Smaller than mycena specimens the pileus on mature specimens measured from 7mm to 1.5cm in the largest specimens. The $2 coin gives an idea.

and a shot of a heavily oxidizing sub

Also another shot of Omphalotus nidiformis. They appear to be everywhere in the pines. Anyone know the yellow/orange fungi growing directly above the O.nidiformis? Looks like the two little ants are trying to work it out.

EB i believe that the orange fungi growing with the O. nidiformis is Heterotextus peziziformis
