Terrible smell buts looks great?

So I have a few pans going (Colonizing bulk), and I am using poo/verm and coir/verm...
Anyway, the 2 pans I have that are getting pretty close (I'd say about 75% colonized) with the poo, are starting to smell terrible... but the myc looks great... bright white, lots of rhiz... no visible signs of contam... I have a coir pan that is closer to 50% colonized, and it doesn't smell like that.
I have read that poo will start to stink... but it was from another website... and I'd like to get some opinions from some of the pros over here..

bad smell= bacterial contamination, you should toss it. I have used poo and yea it smells a tiny bit at first but once the mycelium takes hold all you should smell are fresh mushrooms.

dont throw it away if its colonizing fine bacteria doesnt spread around like mold just grow um out just dont expect much and mold will prob come due to the weakening by bacteria so just keep a close eye

After a very close look... I did find a weird "spot" on one of the myc areas...
Here are a couple pictures... kinda hard to tell... possibly a contam? It is only in one of the pans, the other pan doesn't have one of these... It looks like it would also be a light spot and the bulk showing through? Wishful thinking?

You don't even have to crack the lid to smell it... you put your nose up to the lid and you can smell it... it smells terrible... like if you were to smell food... and it smelled like this, you would immediately know the food was bad...
And it's both poo pans that smell this way, but only one pan has that spot...

I personaly would seperate them to a closet or some. small easy to bomb area and keep an eye on them. although it sounds bad for both might be best to cut losses and focus on what you hace left

Yeah they are in a closet right now... and I bomb pretty regularly... I'd like to let them go to fruit just to see... but I'm afraid to take the lids off of them... If my room smelled like how these pans smell... THAT would be terrible...lol
Think I should spray anything in there> Maybe some h2o2? double diluted? I've read mixed reviews on using the stuff... but maybe since they are so far along it wouldn't hurt as much?

it happened to me once, the smell will keep getting worst and worst and mycelium will slow down more and more. cant really tell by the pic what does the spot look like? does it look like small bubbles and or brown puss? probably improper pasteurization I would guess, I tried saving mines, i used h202 and even put them outside to see if anything would come out but after a week the smell was so bad I had to toss it, when I tossed it was covered in cobweb and some lipstick mold which I assume took hold on there because the mycelium was no longer growing.

I wonder if I should try fruiting now?
This sub was also a little on the cool side during pasteurization. I only got it up to about 145*...

Fuck it... I tossed them... thanks for the input everyone... If it's supposed to smell like mushrooms, I want it to smell like mushrooms... no sense compromising everything else over a few pans....

These just didn't have some smell... it was overwhelming... just emptying those pans into the trash, outside... I smell it inside still... Even if I would have kept them, I would have never been able to fruit them... that smell would not have flown in my house...lol

I've been doing a 5 day stagger since Dec so I have plenty of other candidates ready to spawn to to bulk (Or almost anyway...)
And in 5 days or so, I'll have 3 more pans at about 75% colonization.. 2 with coir, and one with poo... and if the poo one does it again... and the coirs don't... I'm going to stick with core...
That coir bucket tek is pretty slick, if it actually produces... which I'll know here shortly...lol
Thanks again for everyones input... on the brighter side.. atleast I've smelled that now... and I'll know what to look for... no mistaking that smell... absolutely terrible...

I don't think I pasteurized hot enough... on my first ones, I only let the inside temp get to around 145*... I was kind of short on time.. and I did two trays with that batch.... the two trays I just tossed out.
I have a couple other trays that I let it get up to 155*, and the outside up to 180*, so I'll keep my eye on those...
The coir... I pasturized one, and bucket tek'd one (Two trays each), so I guess I'll just wait and see what works best for me...

Temperature plays a big role in bacterial contamination. You might want to make sure you're not incubating at too high of a temperature. The larger subs in particular can produce a lot of heat on their own as they colonize.
