I myself am not a Scientologist, but have always wondered if there are any shroomerites that are. So I decided to make a thread asking so.
Are you a Scientologist? Are you thinking about becoming a Scientologist?
Feel free to post a summary of what Scientologists believe.

Why should I follow a 'religion' that was developed by L. Ron Hubbard, the science fiction writer, that bet a friend he could start a religion? LOL

Aren't scientologists supposed to be against the use of most psychoactive drugs? I sort of doubt that many people here would really be members.

Someone at a job center type place years ago suggested that I sign up for this thing called Landmark Forum, sounded odd and when I looked it up it turned out to be some kind of Scientology-like cult. Someone else I know was also approached by someone about the same thing.

Well what I've learned from South Park is there was a bunch of aliens and Zenu (or how ever you spell it) had them frozen then dropped them into a volcano, and soul catchers caught their souls. Then the souls somehow got released and attached themselves to humans. Can a actual Scientologist confirm this?

Certainly sounds like something a science fiction writer would make up. Yes, scientology is a religion, made up by the Science Fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard (Battlestar Gallactica) on a bet to a friend he could 'make' a religion that people would follow.
It is just as legitimate religion as every other religion, which all were also made up by men. that was his point.

Scientology is a body of beliefs and related practices created by L. Ron Hubbard (1911–1986), starting in 1952 --- wiki

well scientology is kind of a joke its just basically a bunch of self-help bullshit.
I dont get the whole south park episode though? after researching the subject. they dont believe any of that stuff. They are about logic no absured fairytale stuff.
Science is the root word in their name so it is not like most people portray it.
but I still think its crap, any religion that want some money for there info is a scam.
Id love to hear from a real scientologist though...but then they would probably get laughed out of the thread, so they probably wont speak up anyway.
but hey 4 ppl said they were so ya never know

A religion founded by a sci-fi writer that requires you to pay them money is suspicious to say the least.
You do have to pay them to learn about it, right?
Everyone's entitled to their own beliefs and I won't knock them for it, but I just don't understand... And sort of want to. Sounds like many others are the same.

Science is the root word in their name so it is not like most people portray it.
Where did you do your research? Yes science is in the name but none of their beliefs have anything at all to do with science or even backed by science. When you first join they are portrayed as a "self-help group" and if you continue paying them you will continue your lessons and counseling.
But this is where the "religion" part comes in: they tell you that all of your problems are due to negative influences on your soul by lost, wandering souls. With enough spiritual counseling (and money), you can unlock your true power and enable your soul to be immortal. After shelling out even more money you will begin to learn the secrets of where these souls came from (aliens) and how they got to Earth (Xenu) after an intergalactic space war. Yup, totally based on science.
They used to deny the stories about Xenu being true, but at the same time they would desperately try to suppress this information being released and sue for copyright infringement. Why would the story be copyrighted if it wasn't in their writings? I'm pretty sure now they accept that the cat is out of the bag and it's general knowledge that they do believe these things. Many former Scientologists have written books exposing the higher teachings and more recently on WikiLeaks (Leaked Scientology Manuals).
Here are a couple of links to check out too if you want to know why they're so hated: Scientology Controversies Scientology and the Internet

Is Scientology the ONLY religion to Copyright its scriptures if we can call them that?
I heard they had their own Militia/ military wing called seals or something.
I guess Mystery Religions have been around since the Babylonian Empire always with the promise of enlightenment through a gradual Ascension in the hierarchy. Often times asking members to reveal secrets to "cleanse their soul" only to use it later as blackmail material.
Nothing new Under The Sun.... Indeed.
-------------------- "Listen to the cry of a woman in labor at the hour of giving birth - look at the dying man's struggle at his last extremity, and then tell me whether something that begins and ends thus could be intended for enjoyment."
"The separation of cowardice and pride is a false one, for these two are really one and the same. The proud person always wants to do the right thing, the great thing. But because he wants to do it in his own strength, he is fighting not with man but with God. He wants to have a great task set before himself and to carry it through on his own accord. And then he is very pleased with his place. Many have taken the first leap of pride into life, many stop there."

Right in the middle of a quiet suburb is a place where children are separated from their parents, and forced to work full time for no pay, and live in squalid conditions. Those who’ve survived this place say they were brainwashed into believing they could not leave, and that they deserved the shocking treatment dished out. A young man who escaped the place with the help of his father, Shane Kelsey says “I lived in that garage for about a year and a half, maybe two years.” Shane is now 21-years-old. Until just over a year ago he had never used the internet, watched television or followed the media.
“You’re not allowed to read any books other than scientology books, you can’t read newspapers, no radio, no movies, nothing,” Shane said. Shane says he was held captive and groomed to see all of us on the outside as pathetic, useless and stupid. ”So I lived in a garage until that got flooded by a storm, and my mum got really pissed off and said ‘what the hell’ and so I got moved into a closet. It is a closet under the stairs – maybe two metres long and a metre wide,” Shane said.
The true Australian headquarters of the Church of Scientology are located in the Sydney suburb of Dundas. The RPF base – which stands for Rehabilitation Project Force – is where Scientologists are sent for punishment and training, for crimes that most of us would regard as trivial.
