To these people the rez is like a prison. They are trapped living in social and economic depravity. Murder, Rape, You name it. There is no way out and no hope so alcohol is the answer for many. I know some Lakota Sioux from Rosebud reservation (close to pine ridge) and they can tell you of the devastation that alcohol causes for them. One watched her mother die in her arms of cirrhosis. Another struggled to keep her husband and father of 6 around but it tore their family apart till he died.
Yeah they have the NAC and peyote to help but that's a small movement and even roadmen can struggle with drinking problems. Unfortunately the message doesn't get to everyone in time.

I heard this on Rover's Morning Glory the other day and delighted in the fact that most people with more than three brain cells, meaning non-hardcore alcoholics involved in this lawsuit, realize how absolutely ignorant this is. Not only is alcohol outlawed on their reservations, implicating those involved in the lawsuit living there should just be kicked the fuck out, but they go that far to get their fix of Natty Ice. 
Those poor children have my sympathy, and they'll likely go on to become alcoholics since they've been saturated with alcohol since they blastulas... probably sooner. I hope beyond hope this just dies.

they dont exactly work the same, sure u can argue all day, do the psychedelics ect. yet they dont always fit in with the depressing reality of what is actually happening. psychedelics tend to fit in better when there is a possibility of improvement. when shits fucked up regardless, psychedelics can make you lose your mind more and revert to reality escaping chemicals such as alcohol

I prefer the feeling I get from agaric and psychedelic gyms the best compared to any other substances. My experiences with libs are not as favorable, first time I saw colors around lights and felt very happy, second time no much color and became depressed. cannibis is always good though.
