Anyone know of a particular substrate that works best for golden teachers?

when it comes to substrate, cubes are cubes are cubes. Here they are on cased finch seed. But any of the teks will work fine

Thanks for the input guys  after doing some searching, I think I'm just gonna use brown rice flour and vermiculite (just how the pf tek mentions) due to availability and price. Should be starting the project this weekend, hope all goes well!

if its your first grow, thats your definitive best choice. hard to fuck up if you follow the recipe. just make sure you don't use chunky verm... it should be fine to med. grade

we followed the pf tek method, playing particular attention to doing the innoc in a sterile environment and waiting 2 weeks after full colonization and have been rewarded with all sorts of goodness.
you can find organic brown rice flour and verm at a local store for cheap. it works!

if ur doing pf tek with a verm cap,you don't even really need a sterile environment to inoculate. Just be sure to flame the needle.

If you happen to HAVE a sterile environment, by all means use it; otherwise, wash your hands and rub down with isopropyl. i like iso in a fine mist spray bottle to pop the outside of the syringe and everything else in the vicinity with.

A still air box is easy breezy to make and use. I would do that. Make sure to follow the Tek EXACTLY. Make no changes or substitutions in your recipe, or methods. My first grow I decided to add coffee to beef up the verm mix. Added fresh DRY coffee grounds to the BRF. Contam city in 80% of the jars. Good luck bro
