That's the part of science. You can't expect perfection with every go. Scientists don't get everything right the first time I say chase your dreams, and don't worry about the outcome, the adventure getting there, is way more fun than the destination! Good luck

Try to cultivate a love of learning and doing chemistry rather than 'being a chemist'. If you enjoy reading about it and doing it then the career will come.

Well, actually no - not rly. Most people who nurture a hobby of chemistry never become professional chemists.

If you enjoy it... go for it!
Things are usually easier when you enjoy them.

i wouldn't say the point of science is failure... exactly. but you'll never become a chemist unless you risk something. and a bs in chemistry does not make you a chemist.

go for it. i just realized thats what i want to do with my life as well. im terrorfyed of the crazy classes ill have to take. im not really well in school but i want to get thru it. i love science and want to do it in some way or another.
a chemistry degree can offer many advantages in the work force. theres a great variety of positions for the modern chemist. from hospitals to oil companies to water purification plants to underground or legitimate labs. seems like a cool position to be in, to be able to move around and keep things interesting.
go for it. if you dont like it, youll already have a shit load of science classes under your belt and you could most likely get into another related science field.
failure is 1 of the first steps to success.

OP, I'll save you the trouble, don't do it. It is too hard.
4 years of undergrad, 5+ of grad school, 3+ of a postdoc (probably two postdocs).
12 ball busting years, MINIMUM. Only to apply to jobs where a PhD is the minimum required degree, so EVERYONE applying has at minimum, a PhD. As a grad student, I was part of the faculty search committee, they received something like 2k applications for two positions.
