 small black spots in rye jar...

I have a few jars that have very tiny black spots with red specs as well. Anyone have an idea what it is.

Looks like black mold to me.
(PF cake with more established black mold)
If you really want, you can wait it out and see what happens.
Sure does look like a contam though.

Looks like metabolites to me. If it's mold you'll know it by the time the jar is done colonizing.

Probably half the jar would be black. Mold grows pretty fast.

I had a similar problem. Mine looked the same but i found out the real reason it was brownish black was because it was metal rust from the holes i made in the cap.
