Over 9,000 pot plants found in 2 raids
February 13, 2012 - castanet.net

Kelowna RCMP have taken down a second significant marijuana grow operation in the matter of days.

On Saturday, members of the RCMP Drug Section raided a home in the Upper Mission area.

Police seized more than 5,500 plants in various stages of development in the basement of the home.

They also found a hydro bypass in the residence.

A 36-year-old Vernon man and a 32-year-old man from Kelowna were both arrested at the scene.

Both have been released on a Promise To Appear in court in May.

They face charges of Theft of Hydro, Production of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

An arrest warrant has also been issued for a 24-year-old Merritt woman.

On Thursday of last week, three people were arrested after police discovered a sophisticated grow-op in a warehouse on Belgo Road.

In that bust police discovered nearly 3,600 plants.

A mansion is a good place to put a 10kw garden, sounds like they got caught stealing water and that led to this. Just pay your bills, there is nothing suspicious about rich people in big houses that run alot of water. I mean of course without an obvious criminal context, but by then you are fucked anyway.

Just pay your bills? I used to work for an electrical company and the company itself looks for excesive usage on residences and forwards such info to the police.  They are not required to do it, but they do it anyways.

Rich people in mansions could be doing literally any thing at any time for any reason, and everybody knows that. The water company just wants its money, stealing utilities is how lots of big fish get caught. Nobody is getting served a warrant for excessive water use by itself, people are however getting served warrants for stealing utilities.

I wonder how many people out there don't get caught...
