Cactus cooking idea

I no longer have any spare to get cuttings from, but thought about trying one thing out next time I come across some.
-Fill large (stainless?) pot with hot water and put under some heat -Drop in entire washed, unworked cactus cuttings (perhaps these could be 6" to fit) -Make sure the cuttings are completely covered with water -Start cooking medium to keep the water temp up -Cook cuttings on low-med for a while, maybe 60mins (? who knows) -Test one log to see how easily the outer skin peels off the green flesh. -When appropriate toss out the water from the pot and peel the outer skin from the remaining cuttings -Get large bowl and take each cutting and use a knife/peeler to cut off the green flesh -Collect all of the flesh and chop finely -Place in freezer to turn into a slush -Use a blender to whip it up into a cactus slurpee of sorts
I found it easy to remove the skins from the below thin slices after cooking for a while, and figured this method might be worth a shot. I think a slush drink was the first way i tried san pedro and i recall that tasting far less vile than the stuff that's made (in teas, etc) due to all the time cooking.

If you have lemons or any kind of acid added to the H2O it will extract some of the mescaline into the water

I usually throw my cactus into the blender after a half hour of cooking because it is much easier for the blender to do its magic. I still throw the mush back into the pot though and do the rest of my boils. I could never drink what you plan on drinking.

I believe joe molly takes the cactus tea thats from the 5 pulls, dehydrates it into a tar and packs it into capsules.

Yeah, one foot worth of tar is about ten capsules. One foot of cactus extracted with Everclear is about five capsules. The tea into tar is stronger than the Everclear into tar.

there seem to be a decent number of people cooking cacti recently, and i was wondering if anyone who had spare cuttings to play with might try giving this method a try
also, i want to say the cooking time might could be reduced, as it's intended only to soften up the outer skin and make it easily peel-able from the rest
