I played allot of Combat flight simulator ww1, ww2 online. I also enjoyed Roller coaster tycoon, I remember playing that for hours on out on my pc.
Another big on was Empire Earth. I played that for hours.
There was also this game where it had characters like spiderman, and such, you could move them around then click play and it would replay the movements. I do not remember its name.

Back in the day, my parents would only let me play educational games.

Etc.
Then I started playing computer games that weren't so educational.

Then I got a Genesis when I was 8.
It wasn't until I played Final Fantasy X-2 that I realized I had completely wasted my youth with these fucking things. I can't say I don't regret it.

Also my first FPS. I don't think I ever beat it.
Before my family had Windows we had a DOS computer with a bunch of games that I can't remember the names of. There was Space Invaders, a mario-esque game, A Bugs Bunny game, and several others, but I mostly played the first two.
Once my family got Windows, my favorite games became Flight Simulator '98 and Star Wars Dark Forces and Star Craft
Edit: There was also this game my grandpa gave me a copy of, you had to build and maintain a hospital.

Doom was great. There were so many good single-player maps you were pretty much guaranteed not to run out. You could spend a significant chunk of your life on that stuff. After I finished Doom 2 I found hundreds of fan-made campaigns that were better than anything id had put together.

If your image... jealousy.
Also, sadness. I played it in it's early days of being 1 town, ~150 users through to about when they added "black" armor. At that point I was a niggaknight, and that was the best item in the game. Brief return when they made it 3D. Mostly disappointing because they deleted my account due to inactivity, which had 3-4 party hats. Resentment that they made a mundane promo item the core trade commodity. Etc.

As a kid I played old DOS and early early Windows games.
Police Quest, Space Quest, and Larry the Lounge Lizard were my favorites.
Spelunx was my all time favorite Computer game for the old Mac my Grandma had at her house. I also played Vette and Swamp Gas for the Mac.

I am to old for this shit... Only computer games I remember from my early childhood are:

Lemonade Stand

I was in 9th grade('89) by the time I was playing games like Leisure Suit Larry, lemmings, and the Sierra "Quest" games. I don't remember a lot of the other ones but back then I was able to rent PC games on 5 1/4" floppies from the local video store. That was until they started only carrying games on 3.5" floppies. My 30 meg hard drive was packed Then it was around '99 when I got my next computer and I realy had not used the other one in about 6 years. Quake 2 and 3, Unreal Tournament and half life pretty much consumed my game time.

The first computer game I remember playing was oregon trail, and I thought it was amazing. I spent all my money on guns and ammo and did nothing but hunt every chance i got.
I couldnt play it right and finish the game in a half hour class anyway.

Oh my fucking God... I started playing this one in seventh grade, but it remains one of the legitimately greatest fucking games I have ever played. I don't play it that often, but when I do, I play it for hours and hours. The gameplay is so complex, I feel like you could keep figuring it out forever, and the campaigns are so epic.

There were also tv shows of Maniac Mansion and Carmen Sandiego. The Maniac Mansion one had Joe Flaherty as the dad and was nothing like the computer game, but I thought it was a pretty good show at the time. I didn't realize there was a computer game until just a couple years ago, pretty good game for the era.
System Shock 2 was a great game, didn't find out about that series until after I played the Bioshock games which are remakes of System shock series in some ways and have pretty similar gameplay.
Anyone here ever play those text based adventure games like Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and the Zork series? I was a kid when they came out but I never heard of them until I was older. Douglas Adams did the writing for HHG and I think some other ones, Bureaucracy was one. Speaking of bureaucracy does anyone remember a Myst style point and click game where you're stuck in this huge bureaucratic type office complex run by robots?

Born in 1986 so I played fairly early games on windows
Lotta love for this program

On it I played such games as Castle Wolfenstein 3D
 and Doom

And on the Macintosh at my grandmothers house she had Spelunx
 Island of Dr. Quandary
 and Oregon Trail

I don't know how I compare in age to the rest of you.
I wish I could remember more names of the DOS games I played.
Formula One Grand Prix was the earliest game I remember playing at 6 years old in '92

I miss the good ol' days

Lemonade Stand

I was in 9th grade('89) by the time I was playing games like Leisure Suit Larry, lemmings, and the Sierra "Quest" games. I don't remember a lot of the other ones but back then I was able to rent PC games on 5 1/4" floppies from the local video store. That was until they started only carrying games on 3.5" floppies. My 30 meg hard drive was packed Then it was around '99 when I got my next computer and I realy had not used the other one in about 6 years. Quake 2 and 3, Unreal Tournament and half life pretty much consumed my game time.
I had all these games on my apple IIC Sierra games were like crack back then, and with no gamefaqs you had to figure that shit out for yourself! THE HORROR!!!!!

Then is my heart buried alive in snow.

My games:
Heroes of might and magic 1-3

Ultima 8

which would be followed by ultima online, the greatest MMORPG ever made (but that was highschool :p)

ADOM

DOOM 1@2
Hugos house of horrors was pretty fun:

Warcraft 2 (i think):

SkiFree:

dungeon HACK:

Red Baron

Duke Nukem:

Interstate '76 (this was actually freshman year of highschool, I remember playing it nonstop listening to Korns only album)

There are so many more, but I cant remember their names. only what the games looked like, and what they were about. some of them were really fun times. I cant believe my parents let me play so many video games lol

I played probably a hundred million hours of Diablo II, Starcraft I, and Warcraft III. Best damn games ever. Don't like them anymore, save warcraft now and then. Diablo 3 will suck ass. Starcraft 2 sucked balls too. Maybe it's nostalgia. I was badass at Diablo 2, I was completely addicted and very good at it I made probably 25 custom maps on Starcraft, all of which were extremely fun.

He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest — a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. - Albert Einstein

Wow... such a great thread!
I just read the whole thing and I've put some serious time into many of these games... I was a big fan of adventure games, especially the many Sierra titles featured in this thread.
But my favorite listed so far was Rise of the Triad. That was the first game I played that had over-the-top gore in a FPS. It was also a hell of a good time. And it had "shrooms mode!"
Ah the memories!

funny that pretty much all the main stays of PC gaming, even from their pioneering days remain some of the best titles ever, and that PC can still have that niche that it can technically DO MORE then any console; though no progressive games have been made on it, cause all the A and B developers are needing to acclimate to console markets?
i do. for a short while, then i play Doom.

I spent way too much time playing 3.

Shit, another one I forgot...
Descent. I used to play that all the time with my friend on or dial ups in middle school.

So much nostalgia ITT. Are there any Sierra-style adventure games for Xbox? I would love to play something like that with my GF.

Wasn't a big fan of this one, but you just made me think of one of the best strategy games of all time, of all TIME!:

Been meaning to fire this one up again for a while now...
