In my opinion one of the best guitar players ever. I know he wasn't that intense or anything but I LOVE his style! Just terrific! You guys should know a bit about this if you know anything.

huge fan of syd barrett and pink floyd in general. i think its a huge shame that fame completely ruined the guys life though i feel pretty bad that he couldnt even go for a walk outside without a ton of people standing outside his house

The guy was dosed almost daily with huge amounts of acid, usually without his knowledge. People thought it was funny. What happened to the guy wasn't even his fault.

His stuff is pretty uneven, there's obvious creativity and talent in there, but I also feel there's a lot of bullshit.
Octopus and Swan Lee are great songs.
In my opinion, Skip Spence is the premier late 60's acid casualty schizophrenic singer-songwriter fired by his former psychedelic rock band. Syd is a close second though, in that awesome category.

Spence only had one solo album and compared to barretts it wasn't as good imo.
