Anyone into DIY electronic audio projects?
    #15772289 - 02/07/12 03:53 AM (3 months, 20 days ago)

Recently got into soldering and simple electronics for music projects, thought I'd share some stuff I've done and see if anyone else is into this kinda thing. Always looking forward to hearing about new projects and checking them out. :awesomenod:

To the mods, sorry if this would be better in the music forum. It kinda crosses over between the two and figured it fit better here.

From http://casperelectronics.com, pretty sweet weekend project that was very simple to put together and makes some awesome sounds. Think it ended up running me about $140 sourcing my own components.

Just finished this guy this Sunday. It's a summing audio mixer to plug all my shit into an amp. 3 mono inputs and 3 stereo inputs with volume control down to 1 mono output. Cost me about $10 for all the bits. If anyone's interested in a schematic and parts list just send me a message.

The Rockit from http://hackmeopen.com/ which is supremely badass, especially if you love deep bass drone style sounds. Ran me $125 for a full kit, think they're a bit more now.

Hacked out my gameboy, gave it pro-sounded RCA jacks and installed a new clock crystal to control the clock speed of the cpu which gives some fun glitches. Also gave it a blue backlight. Have a green gameboy pocket that I hacked too.

I got some other projects laying around that I haven't gotten around to yet, but some sweet things to check out are:

http://www.ladyada.net/make/x0xb0x/ - Open source replica of the old Roland TB-303.
http://mutable-instruments.net/ - Sweet little synth project.
http://www.oakleysound.com/ - Good place to learn about and pick up modular synth modules.

There's plenty more out there too, but I'll save 'em for later if there's any interest. Just hoping to maybe open some eyes, get people interested in this kinda stuff ('cause I had NO idea this shit was around a few months ago 'till I randomly stumbled upon a project on kickstarter,) and maybe hear about some stuff I haven't run into yet.

Right on. Like the gameboy hack.

I've made a few little cheapo foot pedals and synth.  (if you got that schematic for the mixer I'll check it out)  Would love to get some money together and put together a larger kit someday.

I'll look around and see if I can find some schematics I drew up. I've got a couple other cool projects (clocks, tachometer, games etc) I'll post if I can find em.

I've been getting into microcontrollers lately and I think I'm going to start working on a programmable cycle timer for my fruiting chamber that does light cycles, shows temp/auto corrects temp, measures humidity, etc.

Probably won't improve my grow performance, but it will be a fun project.
