Cubensis "Comeback"

I inoculated several PF jars several months ago. In three of them, mycelial growth eventually stopped when they were halfway colonized, probably due to high moisture. I put them in a cupboard and ignored them until earlier today.
When I looked at them yesterday, two were unchanged, but the third showed clear white and densely rhizomorphic mycelium covering the old mycelium. When I opened it, the mycelium looked slightly fluffy and thick; all in all the way you want the mycelium to be in a good cake. The jar did not seem to have any sort of contamination, only a little rust from the lid, which is why I really can't imagine the mycelium to be anything other than some sort of revived cubensis.
Today, I took a thread of it and placed it in a petri, wish me luck.
Do you have any experience with this sort of phenomenon? Is it actually possible for cubensis to make this sort of comeback? If not, can I name it the zombie strain?
Thanks

who would want a strain that takes 6 months to colonize.
it's likely due to ms injection and a lack of luck caused crappy growth.

Well, the overgrowth seemed entirely different from the original mycelium, which is why I noticed it in the first place. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the cake.
The petri on the other hand looks fine. Once it spreads some more, I'll take some pictures.

It's common after the molds have fulfilled their lifecycle for the mushroom mycelium to make a comeback. This is how it works in the wild. However, in artificial sterile culture, it's not desirable to open the jars, as you'll release all those contaminants which caused the mycelium to stall in the first place. You might try burying the cakes in a garden area, and they'll likely fruit when the weather is right. RR

10 days later:

Second picture is of the mystery mycelium I described in the first post, third picture of a completely unrelated strain. Both were grown on the same batch of MAE and stored under the same conditions.
While clearly different from each other, I still do not know what the mystery strain is exactly. Some sort of mutation?
