Driving high

I've always been against it, but honestly is it that bad? I've driven high-ish a few times. A few hours after I smoke. I still try to avoid it, but is it really all that bad? I'm never afraid to get in a car with someone if they just smoked, but I'm always afraid to actually drive.
Something happened today that made me think. I'm not talking about a long trip in the rain and darkness on the freeway. I'm talking just around town in most circumstances. Driving drunk? Yeah people are shitty drivers, no doubt. But high? The only thing I've seen is people that are usually pretty shitty drivers are still pretty shitty. People who drive safe and normal while sober don't drive crazy while high.
Plus it would make smoking so much easier.

As long as you are just "High" it isn't bad, but if you are stoned It could cause trouble for many people.

Yeah, driving while in the trippy realm of high might not be the wisest. But just decently high?

I drive high all the time and have been for years. I dont even think about it. Now driving while getting high is a stupid thing to do.

I drive high literally everyday. Sometimes it takes me 50-60 minutes to drive home in the afternoon. So I roll a joint with globs of hash in it and blaze til I can't see straight. Traffic is a bitch, what you gonna do?
Maybe there are a few fender benders, bump and runs here and there. Sure they happen. But for the most part I float home pretty safe.

Well it depends on what you're high off of...
I love driving after/while smoking some herb, I've never found it to be dangerous b/c that extra bit of paranoia that weed lets in becomes focused into not making mistakes. I also drive slower, so my reaction time has more room for error. Crank the music up, you'll have a blast.
I learned how to drive whilst intoxicated as a teenager. I've driven drunk no less than 1000x, never got a DUI, never been in an accident while driving drunk/buzzed either. In fact, all 3 accidents I've had happened while I was sober. I pay less attention to the road if I'm not buzzing b/c I'm not as worried about it. I don't think most people should drive drunk, but state dependent memory is a motherfucker and I truly believe that I'm a great driver when intoxicated.
Driving high on cocaine is great. If you're ever drunk and worried about driving home, a line of good coke will straighten you right up. Seriously, it's night and day, bars should give you a bump before you leave at close.
Driving on 4 hits of LSD was a bad idea, even though seeing the city in the form of glowing lego blocks was awesome. I made it 10mi without any incidents. Driving on 6 hits of better LSD is really dumb, especially when the gas station you're going to has a dozen cops show up to take care of a girl who's ODing in the parking lot. The car felt like it was flying several times, spacial distortion was considerable.
Driving on 5g of shrooms was fucking retarded and it never should have happened. I was gone, in a full blown ego-death state when suddenly I came to behind the wheel. I quickly gathered intel on where I was at, turned the car around and about a half hour later, I ended up at my apartment w/ no recollection of the drive. Had I been pulled over I couldn't have given them my name. Never again.
Driving on 2 Xanax bars was the worst and should be avoided at all costs. I could've killed several people, I'll never do that one again either, but I probably won't do bars again anyhow.
Driving on painkillers and codeine/promethyzine syrup isn't too bad but know your limits and make sure you're not gonna nod out.
The best thing you can do is get off the road if you're not feeling it. I've pulled over many times to sober up when I felt like I was pushing it. I've also puked out my window while driving. The former is definitely preferable.

i think it depends how high you are. i feel pretty safe with pot drivers. super drunk people, no. buzzed drunk yes. up all night doing coke and shrooms and whiskey, nah.
i think driving sleepy or angry or otherwise emotionally stressed is the most dangerous.

As has been said, it depends how high. I've driven after a little bit of weed, and it's fine, but I still feel really on edge when doing it, and a bit foggy. I honestly feel much more in control when drunk driving.
When I was younger I used to stoned drive all the time. Sometimes so high that I was actually tripping - every time I changed gear I would see myself doing it again and again. Very weird.

When I used to smoke driving was hands down my favorite thing to do. Twist up a swisher, hop in the whip and drive around. Every single day. I was never a crazy driver and the weed got me a little paranoid, but the better you know the back roads the better you feel whilst doing it.

I drive significantly better drunk than super blazed. I drive significantly better buzzed than somewhat high. I tend not to do it; it slows down my reaction time considerably and I get easily distracted listening to my music.

It's really not bad at all unless you are almost falling asleep from sleepy weed.
Even driving high on acid/mescaline isn't much of a problem and the visuals/head trip have died down to a good extent. People who swear up and down that you shouldn't even think about driving until your afterglow is done are just wimps.

Haha dunno about that. The extremely bright lights are almost blinding sometimes. Plus, driving on the highway feels like I'm driving a spaceship. Don't know how safe that is. I would generally agree driving 40 and under is generally safe 5+ hours after ingestion.

When I drive sober I get bored or road ragey and do stupid passes or drive in triple digits. If I get high I take it waaay easier. And thats why I don't drive High.

driving blazed is not dangerous at all. I've never been in a car accident and drive stoned all the time.

i rode my motorcycle after smoking 2 blunts with the homies, the ride home was pure hell! i was seriously retarded high .. i was not wearing a helmet that night just a shirt with some shorts. i was lost for about a good hour in which all i tried to do was not fall from my bike ..lol i just kept driving str8 until i somehow found the street i lived by. some people can handle driving high while others cant, when i get super duper monkey nigger bawls with boner soup i like to test my skills ,i drive a commander and its a blast to drive while high. i seriously have to say that i drive better than 98% of the peeps in the street. the way i see it is the vehicle is a tool meant to be used by humans so i apply that to when im driving high , i want to test how well i drive and boy let me tell you.... i am the best driver i know

Reading this thread makes me think I'm smoking too much. Who the fuck trips out from smoking weed? I smoke and drive all the time: commuting to/from work, going out, roadtrips you name it! I've never felt impaired. Shit if I'm tired and nodding off while on a long driving stint smoking a joint gives me something to do and makes me feel better. In my younger days the only way to get the privacy to smoke was to take a drive. If anything I'm more reckless when I'm sober because I am quicker to anger and more overconfident in my ability.

#15, it depends on 3 things: your tolerance, how much you smoke and most importantly, how good your bud is. Smoking a lot of OK bud isn't the same as smoking a little bit of really good bud even though you may be getting the same amount of THC. That's because really good bud gives you all the THC at once rather than drawing it out. Result:

Well I get all my bud from a dispensary. It's petty high quality, and I smoke quite a bit of it so my issue is probably tolerance. But even as a beginner I don't recall tripping out or being incapacitated.

As a beginner did you smoke really good bud? Did you smoke through a bong or a joint? Joints have never made me trip, but 5 bongs have. I think if you took a 3 month break and then when straight back into it you would experience the sort of tripping out that I'm talking about. But to be honest I've never enjoyed it, it can be hard to communicate and it just feels weird.

The only time I drove in an altered-state was the tail end of a mushroom trip and it was at 5-6 am on a Sunday, the roads completely empty, moderate fog. Felt amazing. Don't advise it though.

Been driving high as hell for 8 years. No accidents, one speeding ticket when I was 17, once got pulled over for speeding and cop could smell the weed so he have a a possession ticket and sent me on my way. Not too bad.
I feel more impaired when I drive tired than I do high.
For years I would only smoke in my car while I was driving.

You forgot set/setting. Weed is a psychedelic just like others, and set/setting matter. If you're with people you love in a relaxed environment you're apt to get much higher, and if you have the right mindset. If you tell yourself you can trip on weed, you are a lot more likely to trip on it. Just like if you ate some lucy or whatever and you were absolutely convinced there was no such thing as visuals, you'd probably have a really heady trip and not have any visuals.

I wont drive while trying to smoke anymore. I was smokeing and drivieng and I got way too high I had to pull off of the highway and let my friend who was in the car take over and drive. When Im already stoned I can drive pretty normal tho.
