Beginning to end

Do you live your life with the tools given, or do you make your own tools on the way?

A bit more practical: Do people really change? Aren't we too stubborn to change our perception of truth and happiness?

The signals you receive change constantly, but isn't the method of interpretation constant?

It's like you're bound to die how you were born, with a full mind.

Our nature never changes; our needs, instincts, actions. They don't change. Our desires and willingness to fulfill them do.

An example: I make a pot out of clay and I loved doing that, if I try to make a pot today I might not love it as much as I did before. The reason is the pot has changed, your position amongst pots has changed. (Hmm, figuring out there's no real difference in saying, the pot changed or I changed )

Im trying to say we're a black box, there's input and output but the transition is a mystery.

If nothing is done, there is no change in what we do with it.
if we care about it
much can be done:

the ten ox herding pictures are a zen allegory of just that.

the powerful ox is our living habit matrix: learning and hauling and maintaining the status quo automatically.

Finding the ox, catching the ox, taming the ox -adding observation and gentleness to its habits, living with it daily, cultivating health and thriving, enjoying simple things as they are, and bringing the joy to others - these are the stages referred to.

Changes of atmosphere, yes; but changes of the self, no

Nothing more than the product of something past

you are describing the ox, don't forget the child who can stalk, capture, and train the ox.
the ox is so totally like that: past associations, the more they relate the stronger it pulls.
