How Soon...
    #15794043 - 02/11/12 05:29 PM (3 months, 16 days ago)

Until people will start to regret the fact that they live on oceanic coast lines? Would you set up shop in New York City if you were concerned about the possibility of the ocean's rising due to climate change submerging the city? :strokebeard:

I wouldn't fear
For I've never known completeness
Like being here
Wrapped in the warmth of you
Loving every breath of you

But the view is great and it's such an unlikely possibility that anything bad could ever happen to me.  Being as I'm immortal. :monkeydance:

The ocean has such power! I must have it for myself. If I stake my claim on the land, it's mine, right???

Damage due to long term ocean level rise will vary by topography and population density. Establishing this, you could use a yearly rate increase to formulate a hypothetical point of regret for any costal region and even inland areas.

Trying to get more exact seems complex.

we don't have to worry about global warming or rising tides considering it's 2012 and the Mayan prophecy will be fulfilled RECTOS DOMINOS

--------------------
"The man with the clear head is the man who frees himself from those fantastic ideas (the characterological lie about reality) and looks life in the face, realizes that everything in it is problematic, and feels lost. And this is the simple truth - that to live is to feel lost - he who accepts it has already begun to find himself, to be on firm ground. Instinctively, as do the shipwrecked, he will look round for something to which to cling, and that tragic, ruthless glance, absolutely sincere, because it is a question of his salvation, will cause him to bring order into the chaos of his life. These are the only genuine ideas; the ideas of the shipwrecked." - Ernest Becker
