A cordyceps and a few other fungi from Suva, Fiji 2

Just got back from an amazing three weeks in Fiji. Found some cool stuff while i was there. Mainly just showing some cool photos but if you know what these are, then please let me know. Found a cool little cordyceps (i think) which im hoping someone knows the name of.
Anyway here goes. All of these were found in a jungle about 15 minutes north of Suva, Fiji.
1: Growing out of a stick just above the ground

2: Tiny (about 5mm caps), growing out of log next to a waterfall

3: Puffball type thing, before and after releasing spores

4: Strange encrusting fungus, looks like lizard eggs

5: Another one with some awesome colours

6: Maybe a mycena sp. Tiny again with a cap about 5mm or less across. Stype was barely thicker than a hair

7: And lastly, the cordyceps. Infected a moth which was found attached to a fern leaf. Didnt get as much detail as i wanted with the photos but looks pretty recognizable for someone who knows their cordyceps

I think a leaf got in the way of the flash on that last one.
The waterfall where they were found:

Bonus photos of some flowers:

Musa velutina

And im out. Happy hunting!

AWESOME!
Too immature to tell on the moth cordyceps, and yes it definitely is. I think it could possibly be a variety of Cordyceps tuberculata species.
All the pictures are so amazing.
You mention that Puffball like fungi, and said it released its spores in the last image of it. Is the inside powdery or Fleshy? And is the Pileus hard like a shell now? Can't really tell from the image. I ask because if it is fleshy, it may not be a Gasteromycete after all and just have been halfway eaten. Would have to hear touch observations to really know what it is.
Really quality stuff. So cool how that single Mycena looking species is growing out of a leaf.
Are you going to be in Fiji any longer? If so you could really tell what the cordyceps is in about 2 days, pushing it with 3-4 days, after the image was taken. Then it will be fully mature and sporulating.

That looks pretty damn close, thanks man .
Unfortunately im back home now so cant get anymore photos. Im just happy i saw it as it was, never thought id come across a cordyceps like that in the wild. Would love to know how it looks now!
I didnt touch the inside of the puffball but the inside looked powdery. May have been eaten. The complete ones felt pretty rock hard, not how you'd expect a puffball to feel.

No, that's a cordyceps alright. That moth has experienced death by fungus.

4. Is a lycogala sp. probably different from the one we have in the US, but is definately a slime mold (technically nonfungal)...

Awesome post Johnny You found some cool stuff
I'm not sure what most of your fungi are, but I'll make some suggestions anyway 1. Tremella fuciformis 2. Mycena sp. 3. Something related to Lycoperdon pyriforme? 4-5. ? 6. Marasmius sp. 7. Awesome cordyceps... I think you need microscopy to identify them properly

It is fruiting, but is Akanthomyces rather than Cordyceps.

It's still a cordyceps in a sense... Akanthomyces are an anamorphic form (reproduce asexually by producing conidia) of a telemorphic Cordyceps species (reproduce sexually by producing ascospores).

Acording to the new ICN nomenclature rules, the anamorphic and telemorphic forms will share the same name, with which ever one was published first taking priority.

I thought that they were going to take the telemorph name. So they're not all going to become Cordyceps? That will make things so confusing.

Those are awesome.
I wonder why they produce a lattice like net structure.
Maybe as a barrier to protect the spore producing lamellae from predators. Is the net Sticky? as to catch insects that try to climb through it?

The spores are produced on the surface of the cap (the brown slimy part) which attracts insects to spread them. If you look closely you can see a little fly on the cap. Not sure what the point of the net is. I dont think it was sticky.
It also could be a P. merulinus, as the ones we saw were all pretty small (between 7-15cm)

Yeah there is a time lapse of it on Planet Earth "jungles" episode. It is quite amazing.
