I'm not sure how you dry your grains after soaking, but with a short soak time it would be essential to boil grains to make them nicely hydrated and "al dente".
Definitely boil for 15-30 minutes, just enough as needed to make their texture good for myc

I soak 24 hours or more ..... i rinse them off air dry with a fan i dont boil because i cant boil 40 lbs at the same time .. i fill a tub with 40 lbs then fill the tub up with very hot water and pop a top on for 24 hrs.

I've never had a problem w/ soaking for 18-24 hours then bringing to a boil then dumping.
Standard RR rye tek but for WBS w/out long boil.
Just bring the grains up to a hot temp & dump to allow for steam drying.

try only soaking for 8-10 hours and then rinsing. I usually put mine in a bucket before I go to bed then wake up wash it until the water comes out of the bottom of the strainer clear let them dry awhile then pressure cook
I dunno.
If I don't soak my WBS for the full 24 hours I seem to get what I'm guessing is Bacillus "wet spot" and even though the myc can overtake it sometimes, in small amounts and very slowly, I wouldn't use it for spawn.
