Not necessarily. Trich can be unseen in the jar and not sporulate before the tub is fully colonized. It can sometimes appear as white little fluffy dots in fully colonized grain jars, but hard to see, if you don't have an eye for it.

I can assure you I've had exactly that kind of trich. Getting better at my pasteurization- and spawning methods didn't solve the problem, at all.

Contamination prior to first flush usually comes from bad spawn
