hey guys, it my first time growing. I've been doing the pf tek, below are a few images of my jars. Are they ready for the birthing now? I want to check I'm not doing this too early. As you can see a couple of my jars have small shrooms growing on them already, should i pull these off at birthing?
cheers

People used to think they had to colonize in the dark but that turned out to be not true and now many believe being exposed to normal lighting during colonization is actually beneficial.

I would like to RR to affirm that and how exactly make benefits.

wow, thats def news to me, i mean ive heard a couple random people say they didnt think the light mattered but as far as it being a group consensus i hadnt heard of that. i am new here but i've been over at shroomtalk for a few yrs and over there they are still going with the idea that light is fine to colonize in as far as ur myc will still grow but the down side is that u end up with pins before ur done colonizing. so yall r saying that u dont believe that light can initiate the fruiting cycle and cause pinning too soon? im interested in what u thinm because i dont have enough first had experience myself to have a definitive opinion.

Most early pinning in jars that I've seen has been when people use the tall half-pints, some of the substrate can be too difficult for the mycelium to colonize and as it stops colonizing it begins to fruit even though there are still some unfinished spots in the jar. With bulks subs early pinning is usually from too much air exchange or from contamination.
So even though light is a pinning trigger it's the least significant trigger and on it's own won't cause early pinning.

main pinning trigger is fresh air exchange.

RR has affirmed it many times. Search his posts. In the wild, mushrooms grow according to a Circadian rhythm. The cycle of day and night. It is natural and mushrooms love it.

hey guys, they have been left in a dark room mostly, a little light may have leaked in but not much
i haven't birthed them yet as i've been on a stag weekend, will it matter if i wait another day or so until i have some free time (when i'm not hungover)?
edit: forgot to say , they've only been 100% for a couple of days. So from reading other posts i guess i should leave it for a few more days anyway. Is it possible to wait too long?

It's in RR's notes somewhere if you want to read through all that info.
