February Florida Fungi * 1
    #15790754 - 02/10/12 10:39 PM (3 months, 16 days ago)

Even in Florida the winter is a rather boring time for mushroom hunting. Pretty much all you see anywhere around Tampa are the same old tough polypores unless you really search. But hunts in the woods are never total failures down here because it stays warm enough for loads of other interesting wildlife. I also couldn't wait to test out my new camera :awesomenod:

These Lentinus tigrinus were everywhere! They love the water-soaked logs, and all over the park it appeared they fruited at the same time.

Well, I don't have the munny to make it rain on a dslr+lenses so I went for one of those megazoom cameras. It's the Canon sx40hs. I love it already! 35x zoom and the stabilization works very well. I love that on the telephoto end you get such good blurring of the background and foreground.
