Keep looking. You may be able to find some actives relatively soon if paps are popping up.
Also, Welcome to the Shroomery!!!

i would go with the same opinion as psilosymon, looks like veil remnants on this.
but the habitat isn“t bad then, good luck for your next hunt

so i'm 99% sure i have 2 large gold caps. can i get a confirmation?
the stems are broken/non-existent. they were toppled over in the field. i guess the cattle rooted them up when they were walking along.
Habitat: tall grass. moise soil.
Gills:dark brown
Stem:white fiberous.
Cap: dark gold to gold
Spore print color: none yet. just picked.
Bruising: blue.

Isnt it great that its rainning again here in so. texas???
I was so saddened last year with the droughts we were getting no mushrooms at all. I am hoping the population didnt get completely eliminated by the dry hot weather.

It's been overcast for a few days. ranchers usually keep their land somewhat wet and i don't think there were water rations last year so if you find a field that's been green this year, it's prolly been green for a while.
