I have spent the past few days hunting mushrooms on the Oregon coast. Here are a few of my finds.
I am currently in Astoria, OR. I have a very nice Meiji microscope with me and I really need microscope slides and cover slips. Does anyone know where I can get some around here? Or have a few they can spare? Maybe I will try using some broken glass from the side of the road for a slide and piece cut from a plastic container for a cover slip.
From the Oregon Redwoods Trail, Siskiyou National Forest, Curry Co., Oregon.
Mucronella flava

On an Abies (fir) log, approximately 150 yards from the parking lot, 2 feet above the ground on the right. I transplanted some to a similar log on the left, maybe they will grow.
These are really small, only a couple millimeters long.

Hydnum umblicatum

Maybe a Nidula

No one has been able to ID this yet. On fir wood.

Hmmm, I'm not close enough to help, but maybe you can bum some from the OSU Seafood Research & Education Center. I am sure they have some loose ones around.

I'm a good 2 hours away from you and I have slides and covers. I could meet you halfway tomorrow afternoon.

No, they were perfect. I am going to cook them soon.

I still need slides and cover slips, but now I am in Bridgeport.

Fantastic fun Alan, glad you made it to Oregon anyway.
The coast is beautiful in the fall and winter. Will you make it to Sand Lake Park?
