Hello I'm a n00b but learning fast. I was out last weekend in SE QLD, Australia and found the attached mushroom. I'm pretty certain that it's a P.Cubensis but would appreciate your thoughts.
Additional details below.
Thanks CE
Habitat: Cow grazing field, found growing out the side of a cow pat.
Stem: image supplied
Spore print color: Black
Bruising: Turns blue when bruised

cubes print purple brown... not that you could've gotten a print from the mushrooms in your pic. They are pretty immature.
Those are some freakin rockets dude. Nice find.

Thanks guys, your input is very much appreciated. FYI, I gathered up the entire cow pat, which still had another 5 growing out of it, and let the rest open
For my very first mushroom hunting soiree I seem to have done very well. Whooo...
Cheers

They are not active mushrooms. Start your own thread and fill out a request form if you want to know what they are.

They are no good, i can tell from the whole mushroom. Looks nothing like a psilocybe.

they are mushrooms, I would say gymnopus sp. because of white gills=not active, no psilocybian sp. have white gills

Would you mind explaining further what exactly the color of the gills mean

It simply means what color the gills are, and doesn't really mean anything. For example, green gills doesn't mean that mushroom is poisonous. It's a distinguishing characteristic and can help identify what color the spores would be, and also helps with the identification. If the gills are white, chances are you will get a white spore print.

when it comes to active mushrooms there are a cuouple hundred species, that fall into about 4 genus; psilocybe=purple-brown spores &gills paneaolus=black spores& gills gymnopilus=orange spores and gills conocybe=brown spores and gills notice that there are no actives with white spores & gills

Hi everyone Firstly, I'd really like to thank you all for helping me out, you all have really been a great help and I dearly appreciate it.
Just after finding the cubes pictured in my original post I collected up the manure from which the cubes in the picture were growing as well as another that was nearby.
Up until recently I have kept the manure in a plastic bag under the stairs and got it out a little less than a week ago and spread it into two pots.
MUCH! to my surprise more of the cubes have sprung up in the pots without any assistance from me, (apart from supplying what I hope is adequate amounts of water and water mist).
Of course, I am over the moon about this, they bring a smile to my face whenever I see them. I hope they do for you, too
Seeing as I have never, ever, cared for a mushroom before I would appreciate some advice on how to keep my new friends happy.
Thanks again
