Intuition * 1
    #15755094 - 02/03/12 08:04 AM (3 months, 24 days ago)

When you are uncertain about a course of action and listen to your inner voice and it turns out to be beneficial, that is intuition.

When you are uncertain about a course of action and listen to your inner voice and it turns out to be detrimental, that just means you blocked or misread intuition.

Post hoc games are fun for the whole family!

Intuition is bringing the unconscious mind(which is collective) into the conscious mind. This takes a fair amount of energy, which is usually spent in ejaculation. More energy = More intuition. Less energy = less intuition. Retaining the semen and directing the energy through the heart center, the world is at your fingertips.

Intuition is so tricky.  If you asked someone 2000 years ago if the world was flat, their Intuition would have told them that it obviously is.

And Intuition is bad in strategy, in war, following it has lead to many defeats.

And yet in certain realms there is nothing more powerful than intuition.  Like when your reading people, or if someone is lying to you, or if your trying to figure out what to do with your life.

A partly fallible, partly powerful tool.

A test was done a few years back featuring a professional poker player, a professional psychic, a seasoned police detective, a psychologist and a computer with specialized software able to read pupil and skin responses.

10 subjects randomly told the truth or lied to the team. The detective did slightly better than chance the rest of the humans did worse. The psychic was the lowest - and the computer/software scored 7 of 10.

That makes no sense. Post hoc like I stated.

Sure it makes sense.  In some situations its doomed to failure, in others its really powerful.

what is beneficial to you may be to my detriment.

in this way, can intuition ever objectively be either beneficial or detrimental?

That is properly called 'guessing'.

It would be if I didn't define a general outline for when its applicable and when it isn't.

I said generally don't use it in war or science, and use it in the emotional intelligence realm.  I can only speak for my self.

All 30 of Ted Bundy's female victims used their intuition when assessing his character. Conclusion is obvious.

And Steve Jobs used his intuition to father Apple Computer.  Conclusion is obvious.

And I said POWERFUL, not always correct.

And there there are all the studies in Malcolm Gladwell's "Blink".  I think intuition requires a good understanding in whatever subject one will use it before its use.  It is fallible, but I think its better than rational thought in SOME cases, especially when one has a lot of competence before hand.

That is called 'education' and 'experience'. No need to add a word so vague that no two people can even agree on its meaning.

how do you decide to fold or up the ante when in a game?
that is intuition.
all your logic and your physical disposition taken together make the decision, that is intuition.
i.e. more than one single rule in the mix with a grand summation feeling - that is intuition.

Observation, history, math.

At least you have added yet another definition to further muddy the waters.
