Your Intelligence

is perhaps the most private and intimate possession you can have... more so than your body because intelligence is immaterial and floating around in some other dimension along with your 'I AM!' (people seem to identify more with their intelligence than with their brain)
and it is no wonder why everyone considers themselves above average, it is such intangible stuff.
and it is no wonder why people considered 'genius' have the best ego trips (better than the beautiful bodied of course), and are massive dicks like steve jobs or wittgenstein or go insane like nietzsche or both like picasso... (and many many more, probably...)
intelligence is like the ultimate kind of private property...
maybe like a modern version of the soul... think about the soul, it was used to regulate peoples behavior so they conformed to the way the church wanted them to act... intelligence seems similar... nowadays (more than ever?) people seem insecure about their intelligence and terrified of being thought of as dumb, so it may play a big role in making us into obedient sheeple...
how do you think about intelligence?

Well I suppose if we believe in our own intelligence, our intellect, then it makes it easier to justify our actions and have faith in our own choices. Similarly, the same effect can be achieved by replacing faith in our own intelligence, with another possibly more prominent or more experienced mind.
No one wants to be thought of as stupid, even if privately they fear they are. This may be because they want others to pay attention to them (see Icelander ^), and ask their opinions and advice. Just part of feeling wanted and significant ?

yeh that sounds about right... i guess another related factor might be how everything is so specialized these days and we feel insecure about really understanding anything (from art to physics)...
also how there is like SO MUCH information on the internet

I have some posts in my journal if you're interested, OP.

Dual meaning for the same word; my first sentence in journal is also a good explanation. Other then that i'm human; I make mistakes
I do want to have a thriving discussion on intelligence though but I wouldn't know where to start since it's such a broad subject.
Where do you want to head with this OP?

Appearing dumb is a rather effective strategy!
