Going to do a fast
    #15751200 - 02/02/12 09:30 AM (3 months, 25 days ago)

Starting monday..

I'm going to do a fast to purify my mind and body, primarily the body. After this I'm really going to try to cut back drinking alcohol what so ever. I drink casually but I notice how much it slows my mind down and hinders my capacity to understand the deep concepts of which I am always wrestling to grasp. Not to mention the effects on the emotions.. to much makes you weak

No smoking marijuana either, I believe you cannot advance spiritually while smoking it habitually and I think it is time for me to balls up and see what I can do. Meher says you cannot enter the subtle sphere while doing psychedelics (marijuana included) and I believe him.

Coincidentally I was reading some new Meher material today (well just now) and came across this..

"A new line in the divine picture is sketched only when some individual takes life forcefully in his hands, breaks up the old patterns and insists on creating something new by his own inner vision."

You should man, do it. but make sure you have no real obligations or work to do beause this is going to be harsh. I'm jumpin right into this on the fly because I might be gettin a long term job/career real soon and this is the only shot I have. The benifts are radical so it's going to be worth it, plus I like how intense it's gonna be.

Here's an extract out of some old book of a healer/therapist.

google translate:
Quote:

It also attaches great importance to fasting, which facilitates incredible spiritual change in a human. Surprisingly, as soon as it is free of all excess imaginary material, and moved to purely spiritual realm of complete harmony.
The blessings of fasting could write a book. Here we will limit ourselves only to the minimum. Also, we do not talk about fasting only from the standpoint of people who, in all material already seen virtual reality, but also from the perspective of those who have their own body for a true, genuine and material autonomic force. In wildlife can be observed that diseased animals refuse food. Even sick children refuse to eat. Most people today believe that they should really eat abundantly when they are sick, to accumulate a lot of power, which would then be able to successfully fight against the disease. Of course do not know that is just what is sustaining their disease. In such spiritual orientation means forced appetite their efforts to stay healthy. By law, that effort leads to exactly the opposite, they become diseased. Most people do not even suspect, with how little food a person can live.
But let us see how materialistic concept tells us how to fast.
If there is a disease as such, should only be self-evident to give your body a chance to remove redundant and harmful substances that we have imposed.
Thorough eradication may be initiated only, if all the digestive apparatus is still.
If the body no food is delivered except water, the nature wonderful ability to extract all excess materials, poisons, and grime. It does not hurt any vital organs, but clean. All the fasting metabolism is burning upside down. Keep it in metaphor words, just as before, but now of course with foreign substances, toxins and dirt that have accumulated in us.
It is noteworthy that patients if, before fasting completely emptied and if they breathe deeply enough, do not feel neither hunger nor any weaknesses. When properly implemented, the fasting burns man from day to day feel better and more lively, the merrier. His general physical and mental state is visibly better. Fasting treatments last from six to fourteen days, depending on disease. Sometimes even twenty-four hour feast during a work week makes miracles. Between fasting and hunger is a big difference. Fast, it means that we abstain from food voluntarily, which gives nature a chance to eliminate all toxins and grime from the body. Only then, when they were removed from the body of all foreign matter, would have begun starvation. Tongue becomes  mucus covering, the taste becomes sour, salty, bitter. Rotten smelly gas evaporates through the skin and saturate the urine. Famous doctor Riedlin rightly called fasting a surgery without a scalpel.
(google translate went berzerk here, so cutting it out)
By fasting we become freer, less materialistic, more refined and clear sighted. Suddenly we realize and see things that remain hidden to materialistic-oriented people.

it's odd. I had the same idea around noon to start a 13 day fast from the 9th to the 22nd. I think i may take the next week and clearly meditate on this. As i've only fasted for a few days before, 13 days might seem extreme but i am doing it for personal reasons and signs are already appearing to go through with the process. I feel a strong urge to do this. While i might have blocks due to the people who surround me, i cannot let their judgement prevent me from at least attempting.

If everything is one and that is you, then it's normal it's going to project back to you. That's why synchronicity. It's not reality telling you what to do, it's the other way around xD

Well into day 4, I'm making an end to it.
The plan was to cease everything. No food? no problem, no bewerages? no problem, no tobacco? fail.
I still cut it significantly, but it obviously has me in grip, which I didn't expect. I stopped smoking for a week
some months ago and had no problems. The fact that I'm getting nothing but poisons into my blood doesn't make this genuine.
The body really went into 'maintenance mode' like M.Kojc describes in his book. I can smell myself within 30min after shower, the tongue really went mucusy and the body decided to direct some of the water through the intestinal tract.
Feeling of hunger is nothing unbearable and it doesn't last for long when it comes. I've been taking long walks every day, including some hill climbs and I've noticed a general weakness by now.
There's a feeling of perpetual lightheadedness, reduced concentration, bordering a state of altered consciousness. I don't know how much this has to do with smoking, so I'll repeat the fast next month when I'm clean. For science!
:peace:

Nice man you tried it! 4 days that is not bad, that is what I did the first time I tried the seven  day fast a few years ago. Hard to blame you about he tobacco, I was googling to see if I could get away with smoking but apparently its pretty dangerous considering your blood pressure and the fact you are light headed already.

The feeling on the tongue is a sign you were in ketosis which means ur immune system was going into hibernation and your body is feeding of fat, that is when the real healing begins. The stink is actually good because that means its getting out of you, however that also means you have much toxins in you and some work to do.

You are doing more exercise than me which probably explains your excessive light headedness. Try to keep it more relaxed next time. Good effort bro

I am on day 5.

On day 3-4 for abit there my heart was pounding hard, almost like it does if im exessively hungover. Overall iv felt pretty damn good, feel like my mind has slowed down, a sort of peaceful feeling.

Today my urine is pretty dark yellow which is agood sign because it suggests im really pushing out the toxins. My tongue had that "metallic" sort of layer on it mostly yesterday and the day before. I don't really stink too bad, I think overall im pretty healthy because I go for retardedly long saunas rather often, the sweating keeps hte toxins out.

I'm staying with my parents ATM and the amount of food they have in this house is tough, I'm amped to be able to eat a nice meal again and excited to start a new more healthy diet. I havnt been particularly starving or anything tho.. not really at all even before going into ketosis.

Most importantly though.. im craving doritos like a mofo

No smoking tobacco? How about cannabis?

Your thread has me interested in trying this now. Thanks.

Yeah thanks guys, the rewards of fasting make it worth it.

Ya im not smoking at all. After you get near the end of the fast you lose much of the desire for tobacco anyway because the chemicals which trigger the addiction are being flushed from the body. The same goes for junk food, caffeine, mcdonalds etc. However for the first birth you crave hard because those chemicals are in your blood stream before they exit the body.

This is why fasting is a great way to try to kick old habbits and start a better life style.

Yeah, that's the main reason I stopped, but to stay in the spirit, I stayed only on low amounts of raw fruit and nuts/seeds to complete the week. I'm working on the tobacco habbit right now.

Cudos to you sir!

So that's why? I found it odd. Why would I crave junk food instead of something nutritious, it kept boggling me.

Hah interesting, your confusion is understandable. I'm still craving the junk food abit, I don't even care for burgers and last night while watch 'park and rec' (top notch comedy) the greasiest burger looked so damn appealing.

You should checkout the book 'Tao of Detox' it's packed full of information about detoxing, great read.
