Regarding dry shroom vs. wet shroom (fresh picked). I weighed a gram of shroom when it was wet (freshly picked/cut out of the grow chamber) and dried it up. I weighed the dried up shroom and it weighed nothing (i.e. zero gram). Where did the gram of weight go? Does this mean that dried mushroom is not as potent as freshly picked? On my other thread, I tried 0.5 gram of shroom, freshly picked, and I felt its power. Would the same amount, dry, not be as potent? Does the weight simply evaporate into air when drying the shroom up?
ive always estimated that fresh shrooms lose about 85-90% of their weight through drying out, so if u pick shrooms and you want a trip equivalent to 2 dry grams youre going to need about 18-20 grams fresh
Mushrooms can save the world.
Lost Weight is water... Duh... Hence the word, dried... And something can't weigh zero... Get a better scale
Mushrooms are 85-90% water... Depending on growing conditions, age at harvest, ect. It's not a constant though... Some variability in the actual percent water content... Causes some people to see low potency, in larger fresh mushrooms (ie, has more water content).
You will loose some potency in drying, depending on the type of mushroom... It can be substantial... But most larger mushrooms the loss is Masked in variability of mass -moisture ratio so you would notice it. If they are baeos, you would notice... Poor handling can also cause a loss of potency...
0.5 gm fresh would not cause any noticable effects, in my opinion.... Placebo effect or just stoned
