Should i be worried? Dis colorization and pinning in jar.
    #15727411 - 01/27/12 09:54 PM (3 months, 30 days ago)

So i got a few cakes going and this is the only one to be doing this. Im getting some yellowish color on the bottom and its starting to pin on the top. Which has got me worried i may have a contaminate and thats why is starting to pin.

You can take a look and tell me what you think.

Thank you for your time, Wazuki.

First one looks fine to me, the second one looks like rot or bacteria. I would personally toss it.

I think that I am seeing some metabolites at the bottom
of the jar.  It happens.  How much sub is uncolonized?

Good luck,

JD

Hmmm...at 90%.  Well, you can wait it out.  The pin will not
hurt anything.  You can also birth it now and wash off the
uncolonized sub.

yeah, I'd go ahead and birth that one with the pin. Then if the others don't seem to colonize anymore in the next week go ahead and birth them also.

I'd birth that one now.

Rinse off all the uncolonized stuff and the wet dry verm layer.

You'll get at least one mushroom off of it.
