 DMT first time use-did i break the threshold?

Hi i am looking for advice and input on my first DMT trip. I had attained some chemist made DMT; it was mint leaves infused with 70mg (apparently)of liquid DMT. I was told i could smoke it in a bong a pipe or even a spliff and that i didn't need the classic meth pipe since it wasn't in powder. When i was alone in the house i decided it was time to try it. I was very anxious and scared as i am not psychedelic user. I had researched about DMT and i personally believe it takes you to the astral plane, a place where souls go in between lives ie; when you die. Anyways i put on prelude by above and beyond to ease the anxiety and lit up a the entire bowl trying to not have the flame touch the herbs. This shit burnt fast. The entire pipe filled with white smoke and i sucked it all back.
Immediately i felt a strange rush come over me and i kind of lost awareness. I remember counting to ten before exhaling. Then i managed to light up more and inhaled that as well. I think everything went back and a sheer feeling of death enveloped me and i thought i was going to die. I collapsed on my bed and don't remember much just an overload of information somehow. And the room was in colored shapes that filled the air. I don't remember a buzzing sound and i also don't remember hearing my music too much. I just know that i felt like forever had passed and when i opened my eyes i realized that i had not even exhaled my second hit. I realized time is only a perception. I could feel my heart racing super fast as i lay on my bed with my eyes open yet i wasn't frightened. And i looked up at the ceiling and it was pulsating in the shapes of galaxy spirals. I then turned to my bonsai tree and it was warping slightly. I turned to the pipe next to me and saw there was very little inside and so i lit it up and smoked it and closed my eyes to journey through a blue tunnel and have shapes like triangles spinning around the tunnel. I felt bliss and when the dmt wore off i had a sudden urge of joy and began to cry. I can't explain it or why i did it. I was looking to contact entities on the other side which i did not (from what i remember). Does anyone have any opinions? How should i smoke it next time? Did i break the dmt threshold?

I'd say threshold was broken as you did say you felt something. Break through is a bit more intense IMO though.

How could i experience a breakthrough? What would be the difference? Im also wondering if the room i am in is supposed to become another realm when my eyes are open.

Although you had some visuals, i don't think you really broke through. I think if you had to ask if you broke through on DMT, you didn't.
A true breakthrough on DMT is a Life and Death Experience. Yes, it is THAT big.

Did i smoke it wrong because 50mg for a first time user is supposed to be sufficient and i had 70mg apparantly. maybe i burnt the dmt instead of letting it dissolve

If at first you don't succeed try again. Put a small amount of sage then DMT then top it with more sage. in all it should be slightly bigger than a snap. Smoke it slow and burn every leaf to it's last potential. I saw Jesus on DMT it was fucking intense. A sub breakthrough ain't a hint at the mother fucker waiting for you on the otherside
