Quest for the Ultimate Chill Room

So, here are a few pictures of my upstairs "chill room." Entrance:
 Inside view 1:
 Inside view 2:
As you can see, there are posters covering almost every inch of wall space. They may be hard to make out in the pic but they're mostly video game/movie/anime related. Also there are two black lights. I want to remove the posters, then remove the wallpaper and paint the walls and ceiling with a color (other than white) that will react well to the black lights. Any suggestions would be appreciated, as the only paints I’ve found that are specifically black light reactive cost in the hundreds. I was also thinking of splattering glow in the dark paint across the ceiling. After all that’s done, I’m going to put all the posters back up, and then draw outlines, like frames, around each poster with a black light paint marker. My goal is to make the ultimate chill room, so if you guys have any ideas to make it better feel free to share them with me. =]

Well, black light paint is a ripoff. Bright neon colors will always react to black light but I'm honestly not sure if you'd like to paint your ceiling in day-glow colored paint. Even though you don't want white, painting the ceiling white and then doing a drippy splatter pattern of black would make for a cool effect and most likely the brightest. It'd be time consuming, but you could paint a design like neon checker board, stripes, or bubbles of the wall. I would just go with regular frames for the posters, maybe switch out some for a few posters from a head shop or Spencer's that will glow in the blacklight. The idea of 'painting a frame' just sounds like it'll look really tacky.
Get a funky shag rug in a neon green or something or just a shag rug period, it'll add to the chill room and people will happily rub their feet across it.
Keep it clean and the furnishings minimal, open space is vital to feel chill in such a cramped room. Get by with as little as you can... is that clothes everywhere?

I'd paint them all flat black, so it looks like infinity

Nice room man!
I work at a fun zone (read: local Chuck E Cheese) and our laser tag rooms use extensive black lighting. I really like the way splattered neon paint looks under a black light, all the benches in our prep area are done with black spray paint and then various stencils were placed down and several of us employees were allowed to go ape shit with day-glo paints. The effect that we have is really good and I hear lots of compliments. Another effect we used on our walls was to have a black backing with white paint "misted" on. We had it done specially and it looks fantastic but I'm sure with a little ingenuity you could achieve excellent results.
I've spent a lot of time between laser tag games thinking about how I would incorporate black lights into a room given the opportunity and I think the best idea is the splatter painting, it really gives the neatest effect and uses small amounts of paint.
One last idea, we use a fog machine in the main arena and the lasers combined with the black lights get a lot of people to say "Cool!" when I open the door. Fog machines can get expensive (cheap ones are POS and rarely worth it) however a little bit would go a long way in a small room and if you just had enough for a cloud of fog on your ceiling where the black lights are (with maybe a laser or two sweeping through it) would make the most epic of chill rooms.
Good luck man and be sure to put pictures up, I'd love to see how it turns out!

Never thought of a shag rug...I'm definitely adding that to the list of improvements to be made. Totally groovy, man. And yeah, the place was a little messy. It's hard to see, but in the corner there is a coffee table which I'm probably going to move downstairs. It's covered in Pkmn cards atm though, and I'm too lazy to move them. XD

Thanks man...I've put a lot of effort into it. =] I've got a good sum of money coming in at the end of the month, and I'm definitely getting a minifridge now. XD

Thanks man. And i will definitely consider the "white mist over black paint" idea. And as soon as the room is finished, I'll be sure to post more pics. =]

Im going to go out on a limb and assume you partake in psychedelics and so will have to insist you get one of these as well:

but...then my posters would be covered up! The fountain idea is nice, but I'm usually playing music on the stereo system up there, so the point would be kinda moot

You add some mirrors. Setup one and then setup another one directly across from it and you'll feel like you're in a huge room.

I want to try it with a mirror on the floor and one on the ceiling. The problem is don't know any ways to mount one on the ceiling.

If it was just a mirror without a frame I bet liquid nails would hold that up. You know what that stuff is?

I'm guessing it's something similar to the adhesive I used to mount a rear-view mirror onto the windshield.
