Your definition of love.

What would your definition of love be? If someone asked you what love was what would you say?
To me love is like knowing you have the last peice of food in the world and even though you are really hungry you give it to someone else who is really hungry.
How would you define love? Better yet, give an example.

People love differently and experience it differently what I might consider love might be queer compared to casual sex, might be the only way some people might know how to love. I'd definitely define it as affection.

What you ask is impossible to answer. Not in a bad way
"love" is terribly ambiguous. We don't understand what it means, its an attempt to verbalize some sort of feeling that is shared by human beings.
Is there a "biology" of love? Most certainly. Its not something that has been deeply explored, though, in academic / linguistic realms of study, and is terribly underfunded. There is very likely a mechanism behind "love" and what we experience, as humans, but we don't understand it at all.

the buddhist definition is wishing happiness on others
from a buddhist point of view, what is often called love is seen as attachment (which is a hindrance)

Interesting, from a pagan point of view its viewed the same way (Ancient Greek / Roman religions). I did not realize that similarity. Its very wise~
thanks

My example would be like blowing up the whole world due to your compassion for it's suffering humanity instead of refraining due to guilt or fear.

Yes I realized this, but still there are many words you can use to express this wordless feeling.

love is seeing eternal beauty in the failings and stupidities of another.it's critical that love does not become idolization whereby everything another does is perfect. this is the perverse kind of love that stalkers fall victim to. real love is to find timeless beauty in the most ugly and mundane. anything else is lust or perversion.
-------------------- "The man with the clear head is the man who frees himself from those fantastic ideas (the characterological lie about reality) and looks life in the face, realizes that everything in it is problematic, and feels lost. And this is the simple truth - that to live is to feel lost - he who accepts it has already begun to find himself, to be on firm ground. Instinctively, as do the shipwrecked, he will look round for something to which to cling, and that tragic, ruthless glance, absolutely sincere, because it is a question of his salvation, will cause him to bring order into the chaos of his life. These are the only genuine ideas; the ideas of the shipwrecked." - Ernest Becker

Love is all you need.
Love = all you need.
If you find all you need, you have found love.
Then, when you realise you are eternal and in fact do not need anything, you realise you always have love... but you often confuse yourself by playing with Satan's toys.
Alternatively, love is the blood that courses through your veins.

There's no evolutionary advantage to love.
It's a western construct that means 1 man 1 woman; this does not fit with propagation of the species.
