OK, I'm not that in tuned with what games are out, but Skyrim seems to be a "hot" title. May I ask why this game is in such popularity here in shroomery? I saw a post back in the day and people were very excited for it to come out.

Good then... i loved Vanquish. loved it all the way through and continue to play it for it's story mode AND it's arena mode. even though it's a short game, it's awesome because it's quick and arcade-y like that. it's what made it so cool for me, any way.
i like Plat games.... i am playing Bayonetta now for the first time, and it's fucking hard when you get to Paradiso... ehh, it's about two quarters through the game... i just beat the two levels that are comprised of it, and now i have to fight my third huge boss battle.
it's intense.
the new Metal Gear game should be sick. more robots.

Bayonetta was amazing, I liked it more than Vanquish. Just wait until the final boss fight 
Vanquish was pretty amazing though. I also really enjoyed the extremely fast-paced action and arcady feel to it. All of those rockets and bullets and robots and sparks flying about while you're crouched in slow motion, mowing down everything in your path.. fucking crazy.

what a push you have to make for Bayonetta. too hard!!!
yeah, i just helped a few friends merc the end of Vanquish today... so that's the fourth time i've seen the ending to the game.

There's a good selection of games from last year, but a lot I haven't had a chance to play yet. UC3 for example I haven't played yet so it wouldn't be fair to include/exclude it.
Skyrim is not GotY for me though. Great game, in fact I'll probably pop it in in a few minutes, but extremely overrated. It suffers from the same problem all these massively open world games do. You can do whatever or go where you want, but as a result never feel obligated to do anything and can never really accomplish much of significance. Aside from the main story, which is pretty short, nothing you do really ever matters. It's a pretty immersive, real life experience but causes it to lack as an actual game. Also most of the game just boils down to dungeon diving.
